“Another Good Meal at Adega”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2009

We had a 5:30 pre-theatre dinner at Adega on December 3, 2009. We selected the restaurant because we’d happily eaten there previously and also because of its proximity to our guest and the subway. We were once again well pleased.
Although we ate far lighter than previously, our meals of grilled sardines and the seafood appetizer platter (for two and generous), accompanied by the house bread and olives and a bottle of red, were very good. Our selections were nothing refined, just honest, simple preparations. My daughter, who spent part of last summer in Portugal and fell in love with grilled sardines, was impressed.
Service was friendly and warm, without being obsequious. We managed to get to the theatre at the opposite end of town for an 8:00 pm performance with time to spare and without feeling rushed.

“A gem on Elm Street”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2009

I had many meals at Adega when I lived and worked in Toronto. Now I'm a visitor and had dinner with friends there this past weekend. It is still top notch. Excellent Portuguese dishes, plus items for the less adventurous. The booths are worth asking for - very private and comfortable. Service is impeccable - special requests are quickly granted. A fine wine list - try one of the excellent Portuguese wines that you don't find anywhere else. There is a great private room on the lower level for groups.

“Great - and unexpected - find; wonderful food and good service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2009

Great find. A Portugese restaurant in Toronto. Wonderful grilled Portugese sardines, followed by excellent seafood risotto (albeit with rice slightly overcooked). Excellent bottle of Douro red to wash all this down. Nice chocolate mousse to follow. Excellent service. A nice experience and a great find. Would we return. Absolutely. On our short trip, this nice restaurant was beaten only by Il Mulino.

“Fabulous Portegeuse cuisine!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2009

I've eaten here a few times and had consistently good results! The service is very good. Menu is varied also offering option of prix fixe. The marinated black olives they serve with bread and oil (complimentary) before your meal comes are just to die for. They do risotto like nobody's business, not to mention their pasta. I did not have the fish, but several people I was dining with had the fish of the day and were not disappointed. The soup of which I can't remember the name (something verde) was wonderful as well! The menu is reasonably priced too. I really can't say anything bad about my dining experiences here. For anyone staying at the Delta Chelsea, you're in luck at this restaurant is just across the street!
