The first thing you'll notice is the brilliantly tacky sign out front, complete with bright flowers. This place is wonderfully unpretentious and they make excellent Mexican food.
The guacamole is excellent, and is served in bowl that's made of volcanic rock. Or something like that. Anyway the bowl makes for a fun dining experience. The guacamole is smooth and buttery.
I really enjoy their enchiladas and their fajitas. They do good combo plates here, the "East LA" being one of my faves. If you like Mexican seafood dishes, go for one of those. They do them well and have a few that are hard to find in Toronto.
They have a good Mexican beer selection and the wait staff tend to appreciate it when you order something besides a Corona. They also serve the obligatory monster size margaritas. I haven't tried one, but I've been told that they are good.
For dessert thy have churros and fired ice cream. And they also have a delicious pastel de 3 leches that goes nicely with a cafe de olla.
This is a comfortable neighbourhood restaurant with really good food. The staff are very friendly and will become familiar with you if you go there regularly. The dining area is somewhat congested, dark, and can get kind of hot and stuffy when it's warm outside. They have a small sidewalk patio out front in the summer and even better, there's outdoor seating out the back of the restaurant.
If you find yourself looking for affordale dining options in the Yonge & Eglinton area, it's well worth seeking this place out. And if you like good Mexican food, you'll probably find yourself wanting to back.
