“Most terrible service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2014

Dinner: celebration of engagement with 6 ladies

1. The service was very slow - we got to order only 25 minutes after we sit down
2. Food came even slower - another 30 min
3. We were lacking water all the way through the dinner
4. It was +17 degrees outside and when we asked to close the window the servant refused to accommodate and was very rude
5. One lady find a small crab, size of a nail, in her food, which means most likely the sea shells were not washed before they cooked (shell food doesn't open the shell until you cook it, if it was opened before and crab got in means it was a bad quality, already dead shell). The owner came, did not introduce herself, refused to listen, after we complained, she turned around and walked away on us. No apology, no explanation, no reimbursement.

“Would return every time in Toronto”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2014

Had an excellent meal. Fresh tomato and mozzarella salad to start, perfect balance of oils and vinegars. Seafood pasta special, al dente with a simple but tasty tomato sauce. Husband had shrimp cocktail, generous portion with large shrimp and the veal chop. Very tender and delicious.
Service was fast, knowledgable and friendly. The entire team works very well together. It was such a nice surprise, would recommend this restaurant to all my friends. Enjoy, we did.

“Tasteless service and food”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2014

Although a pretty setting, the food was awful and the server said he hated Toronto and his job! Go to the Elm Tree Restaurant a couple of doors away.

“Nice find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2014

Great little recommendation by the Courtyard hotel. Enthusiastically welcomed and quickly seated upstairs, outside in the front - great table. Well-paced, friendly service. Good wine list. Excellent meals at reasonable prices given the meal, location, atmosphere & service. Not rushed, but well attended to through out the evening. Veal was tender, sauces perfect. The appetizers - one was eggplant, the other a thinly sliced beef were sublime. And the grappa to finish the meal was perfect...thought we were back in the North End...if only the Sox had won...!

“Beware of price changes!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2014

We dined at Donatello Restaurant in July 2014. The ambiance, food and service were excellent! What left a bad taste for us was that the menu prices posted outside were lower, by $2 an entree, than the actual menu prices. In addition, my husband ordered the "COSTOLETTE D'AGNELLO Charcoal broiled lamb chops cut from the rack of lamb" for $29.95 as stated on the menu at the restaurant and what we expected to pay. When the bill came we were charged $39. We asked the server about the price difference and the explanation was that we got the rack of lamb contradicting what was actually on the menu. If there were two choices and prices for the lamb chops, that should be made clear on the menu or by the server when ordering.

Too bad that the price switching overshadowed an otherwise wonderful meal.
