“Downtown and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

The residence is downtown and offers comfortable apartments with kitchen. Our apartment was very nice, wifi worked perfectly and daily room cleaning was provided. The swimming pool is not large but pleasant and a Jacuzzi pool is available. There are no common spaces available for guests (even the reception area is small) and this is strange in such a big and elegant structure.
Unfortunately the breakfast room is small: twenty tables which are inadequate to seat all the guests. In some days expect to wait to be seated especially if it is after eight o’clock. Breakfast has a good choice of hot and cold dishes but there are no trays to take your food and drinks to the table and this is uncomfortable.
Two or three times a week, in weekdays, the residence offers an early (6-7.30) complimentary dinner to the guests in the breakfast room. It is a very simple dinner with only one dish with pastry and soft drink but, according to my experience, they seem not to take great care in offering this service to guests. During our stay the dish of the evening and the salad were not well presented and people had to line up waiting for the dish to arrive from the kitchen.
Overall a good experience.

We stayed here just for 1 night during an overnighter trip to Toronto from NY. I have nothing but good to say. The rooms are very roomy and very clean. The staff was very friendly, especially Andre who told us to call down to the desk with any questions about the hotel or city. The hotel is in a great spot, about a 10 min walk to St Lawrence Market, 10 min walk to the Eaton Centre, and about 5 min walk to the Rogers Centre. CN Tower and waterfront.

When we first got to the room, there was only 3 towels for the 5 of us staying there, so we called down to the front desk for more towels, and within 8 mins or so, we had our towels. The hotel also offers a Free Complimentary breakfast which was fresh and had a good variety to choose from. I have nothing but good to say about the hotel. I was very impressed with the hotel's condition and staff. I would definitely recommend staying here and plan on staying here in the future.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor on the South side...those rooms face the CN Tower and you can see it all lit up...

We stayed for a weekend in August 2013 (family of four). Our room had its own kitchen, living area w/ sofa bed, king bed and it was always cleaned well. It's only one block from the CN Tower/Rogers Centre, 1/2 block from Soho Met & Wayne Gretzky's restaurant, and a short walk to Yonge. It's also about a block to the nearest YUS subway line. They offer a hot breakfast buffet that runs until 11 am on the weekends - food was great. The pool is a little small but the kids still enjoyed it. Lots of food options nearby. The valet arranged for a car to take us to the airport and the front desk staff were always polite and helpful. I can't personally speak for parking but one person I talked to said they couldn't self-park at the hotel and had to park a block away. There is valet though that will park your car but there is limited spaces. This hotel will be our first choice when we return to Toronto and would recommend it to everyone.

I've stayed at Marriott's all over the world and they are always great hotels, however the staff at this particular hotel are fantastic. I stayed there with my wife for a little over a month on two seprate occasions while my son was being treated at SickKids. The GM, Beth always took excellent care of us, and made several extra accomodations for us while we were there. Here excellent service trickles down through the rest of the staff and they truly made our stays feel like we were home away from home! Thank you so much for everything you have done for us! We continue to stay at the Residence Inn whenever we are in town and are always recognized and greated by the same great staff, from the doormen, housekeeping, and front desk staff. You will not be disappointed with your stay!

This hotel provides clean, spacious suites which are ideal for families. If we had been travelling without the kids we wouldn't have even considered it as its basically a no frills option, the main selling point being the two bedroom suites. The bathrooms are tiny and very dated and they definitely need to invest in some new towels. We didn't bother with the breakfast, the queue and the fact that the first thing we saw on leaving the lift was the dirty plates being scraped into a bin put us off. Luckily there is a Starbucks on the corner of the street.

The location is good, and it was pretty quiet which is always a bonus in a city centre hotel.

We've booked this hotel 8 months ahead, based on the good reviews on TA. We enjoyed our stay, the breakfast and the happy hours. The rooms are spacious, well appointed and spotless. The location was good and we walked a lot. The only "down" spot was one morning, when we went very early for breakfast, ahead of a day tour to Niagara falls, and there was no breakfast… i.e. hot items. Upon inquiry, we were told that the "hot items come from an outside provider", they were supposed to be there at 5.30AM, but at 6.30AM there still didn't arrive…. We thought that's poor management and always should be a "Plan B", but it didn't spoil our stay.

Lots to recommend about this hotel. Cleanliness: excellent. Room size: huge. Bedding: King size, with great quality sheets and duvet, and pillows that almost didn't suck (does ANY hotel in the world offer a pillow that isn't like a half-full bag of feathers anymore???). Super quiet - like a tomb - even though the hotel was full of revelers in town for the wild Carabana festival. Location was great: five blocks or so north of waterfront, in heart of restaurant district, subway a few blocks away.

I've seen some reviews that said breakfast was crappy, and it wasn't five star, but it was decent, and how many hotels of any kind offer a full hot buffet breakfast included in the price anymore? Just about none. View: we faced north, so we didn't have a lake view, but we were on the 19th floor, and had an OK view of other downtown buildings. Nothing spectacular, but this isn't a city where you buy a room for its view.

We were almost shocked by the value. We paid $140 per night and other friends in town that stayed at other "better" hotels nearby that week paid a lot more with smaller rooms and no breakfast.

Only sorry thing about this place was its bar. Most folks wouldn't even know they have one because they have hidden it across from the buffet area behind a big wall. A quick remodel would bring them a lot more income, but that's their loss.

Room Tip: south side faces lake.
