“Great location, reasonable price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

Toronto hotels are really expensive, above NYC, at least during the weekend; this hotel is a great value since you can have a really good free hot breakfast, free wi fi and the location is excellent, you can walk to all of the main atractions or take the subway 2 blocks away. You can have a great view from your Room, which are awesome by the way, clean, modern, quiet and very well equiped. The zone is not so busy but looks extremely safe. It was worth every dollar, you can find cheaper hotels a couple of miles away, but because of all the extra values that this provides, you should spend the extra dollars. Much more expensive hotels of other known brands do not offer this excellent combination: location, free breakfast, free wi fi, awesome bedroom.

Location is great with lots of dining options nearby. corner suite was large and well appointed. No view from the hotel though. they had kept microwave popcorn which was good addition with kids. There is no room service but you can order directly (one-touch dial) from many restaurants nearby that deliver to your room. I am alright with that.

Parking is very expensive at $40 Valet. I saw a nearby open parking lot around the block at $20 / day with no in-out option. Also BF was really crowded (for the small restaurant) in the morning and wait time was over 15 min. Bagels were those de-frosted ones with no taste. could be improved.

The biggest advantage of this property is that it is centrally located. You are within walking distance to most public transport as well as restaurants. The convenience is also a block away. The reception is well staffed and very helpful to guide you to most things in Toronto. The Indian restaurant 259 Host is by far the most excellent Indian restaurant I have been to in my travels out of India. The kitchenette is well staffed with all the usual requirements and the king suite is fairly large and comfortable. The breakfast is good and the tea, coffee facility 24*7 in the lobby is a boon. The only downside is that the lobby gets fairly full at breakfast time and sometimes not easy to get a table.

We just checked in to this hotel. So deceiving online as it actually looks decent. The room is old, carpets stained and dirty, just found an old shampoo bottle behind the bed.... And to top it off no one to help with bags and no room service! As a Marriott member I'm very disappointed. Do not stay here if you are looking for a nice clean room and something to eat. All I can say is thank god it's only for one night!!

Whenever possible we stay here. We are pretty loyal to Marriott so move around if there is a major price difference elsewhere. It's not a great hotel for direct site seeing as the views along Wellington are a bit drab, and views from hotel room are usually not very good, but you are walking distance to most everything else. Weekend breakfast is a bit chaotic but Tim Horton's and Cora's (great but big lines) are near by.
The rooms are big and roomy and we've stayed in most configurations. They are not super fancy or trendy rooms but functional and clean. Staff has always been friendly.
You can park at 320 Front street (behind hotel) for a bit cheaper. This is also great hotel if you have a dog, as there is a dog park two blocks away.

We (family of 3) were in town to watch the Detroit Tigers beat up on the Blue Jays, and the Residence Inn was a perfect choice (about a 10 minute walk to the Rogers Center). Also in the same area is the CN Tower, and Toronto's fabulous Harbor Area. We did all of the "touristy" things (CN Tower, Casa Loma, Toronto Island tour, etc...) and also found a few hole-in-the-wall pubs and restaurants. Toronto is pretty spread out, so we ended up buying a 3-day pass ($35 x 2 adults, $30 x 1 student) on the double-decker tour bus. Great investment... you can jump on and off at any of the 21 stops around the city. This was a life-saver as it was $40 per night to valet at the hotel (very steep compared to other places I've stayed) and definitely added a chunk to the bill for 4 nights. Also, add 13% tax to ANYTHING you buy in the city (hotel room, parking, event tickets, bottle of water, etc...) and you soon realize Toronto is a pretty expensive vacation city.
We had a lot of fun though... Casa Loma is a "castle on the hill" built by one of the richest men in Canada at the time, who ended up penniless. Very cool historical tour of the castle and grounds is about $20 for adults.
The Science Center is looking pretty run-down compared to my memories of it as a kid, but still houses some pretty amazing things. $25/adults.
The shopping district is amazing, and the tour bus stops right in the middle of it... also take the time to tour the Toronto Islands by boat (or, if you have time, take the ferry to the islands and rent bicycles); you won't regret it.
The hotel: Klove007 below sums it up pretty well... busy (lame) free breakfast, small lobby and bar areas, average sized pool and hot tub. Clean rooms, never had a problem with noise or anything else. Great door valets and front desk folks...
All in all, good location for the sports fans/CN Tower visitors... everything else you will need a taxi or other form of transportation to get to.

Room Tip: Higher floors have better city views, and South side faces the harbor

Great location within walking distance to everything we wanted to do on our long weekend. Breakfast is always busy very similar to my stays in manhattan in similar style hotel. Small but adequate lobby and elevators were fast for us On the top floor. Valet expensive (40$) but savings for breakfast offset the cost for my family of four. Stayed on Marriott points and as silver was not given any preferential treatment.
