Owner description: Versailles this ain't. Still, that hasn't deterred the crème de la crème of the alternative music scene. The Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Tragically Hip, and Alanis have performed here. Despite the graffiti grunge, Lee's does boast the best sight lines in town. The audience is young and rarely tires of slam dancing in the mosh pit in front of the stage.

“Cool place for a concert!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013 via mobile

Small venue that can accommodate aprox 500 people so it allows for intimate concerts. The decor is cool outside and inside.

“If you are looking a stress-free, fun night...DON'T go here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

Staff IS the biggest problem! Bouncers think they have the whole world into their hands (what one would call power trippers).

I was there to see my best friend play. Two of my girlfriends were supposed to join us at 11ish pm, after dinner. I got a call from outside telling me that the bouncer would not let one of the ladies in because she was "drunk" in his view; he also went on to call her "too short to hold her liquor". To put in in perspective, I am talking about a group of over 40s ladies (with children at home, etc.), not a different kind of crowd.

When the bouncer announced his decision that my friend was too "drunk" to come into this joint, she did get upset and told him he had not right to call her drunk or point at her size as a deficiency! Of course, the bouncer found her "rude" and decided that she will not be allowed inside. I tried reasoning to this guy, but nothing. I spoke to the ticket person at the door who tried to call the manager (nowhere to be seen or ultimately to be found); she did say she cannot do anything. The other bouncers were "more understanding", but could not really do anything because the "top" security guard made his decision, with no breathalyzer and no real reason other than he had to show he was the "decision-maker" who could use his "power" over whoever he wanted whenever he wanted. Quite disgusting!

If you want to save yourself the trouble of dealing with such scenarios and types of people, I strongly suggest you go some place else. There are many other venues in the area that offer music, fun and make you feel wanted as a customer (just use your maps on your mobile devices or ask some of your friends). No one should be expected to dress up, make plans, pay door fees and drinks, yet be treated as if the joint would do him/her a favour of even considering them to come in. That, in my humble opinion, does not sound like a recipe for a great night out!

P.S. - A bit about the venue
- dirty
- slippery floors
- dirty, small bathrooms
- no food to purchase

“Not for the faint of heart!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

We went to Lee's Palace to see Colin James. He ofcourse was awesome. The venue is small which is fine because it's intimate. The walls, ceiling etc are painted black for a reason, it's very dirty. Paint was falling off of the ceiling. The washrooms are located upstairs, which is quite a hike if you've "had a few" and they weren't clean either. The sound was good. No seating, standing only if you don't like a seat. Overall I would probably go back to see someone I like there, but atleast I'd be prepared to bring my hand sanitizer!

“Save yourself the trouble!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

If you want good music, good staff and good security, then this is the wrong place to go. The music is spotty at best. The staff is incredibly rude and condescending. There's broken beer bottles on the ground, long lineups for everything, drinks are tiny and really watered down. Place is old and rickety. Go some place else where you will get your money's worth and be treated with respect as a paying customer, not just another fish in the ocean where they just want your money.

“Dance cave upstairs, live fun downstairs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2012

Lee's seems to have it all. It's a very eclectic club, much like the street it live on. You'll be dazzled by the new-ish mural they have outside, and the dance cave shuffles a decent mix of old and new. They always have live bands, almost every night, so there's really something for everyone, especially now with the burrito place right there. No one loses at Lee's.
