We went to Toronto to attend the Toronto International Film Festival, our first time at this event. Over the years we have usually stayed in Yorkville, but everything in that area was booked, so we reserved at 1 King West.

We were not disappointed!!! The room was large, beautifully furnished, and filled with light during the day. The bathroom had a tub as well as a good sized stall shower. Although it was comforting to know that we had a washer and dryer right in our room, we were only there four nights and didn't make use of it. We did use the refrigerator and made ice in a tray so we didn't need to go to the ice machine. I feel that the room would have been comfortable for two of us even for an extended stay.

The lobby was very user friendly: from front door to elevator door was just a short walk; no massive lobby to travel through.

Originally concerned about being right downtown away from the theaters', we found that we could get anywhere quickly as the east/west trolley runs right down King Street and the north/south subway entrance was right outside the doors of the hotel. We were also able to walk to some of the theaters', but once we hit on the ease of the transit system we walked less and rode more.

As if all of this was not enough Starbucks is right across the street. It is very likely that we will stay at King 1 the next time we are in Toronto.

Loved our stay at the Suites. We booked a Studio suite for two nights, knowing from previous reviews it would not have a view, but did not mind. It would be just a place to sleep for us. We were pleasantly surprised the window looked out on an atrium, not exactly an airvent/shaft as some people said. Extra bonus was that we didn't have any streetnoise.

If you want to look out over the city, you can take an elevator to the 17th floor, or to the gym, which has a balcony. Or better, visit the CN-tower.

Room was a good size and clean. Great bed. Smallish bathroom, no bath, just a shower, but clean.
Liked the kitchenette, great if you would stay longer, has almost everything you need. Missed a kettle though, but used the microwave to boil water for tea.

Roomservice was efficient, they didn't blink an eye when we ordered oatmeal at 10 pm... 15 minutes later it arrived.
Breakfast (not included) is served at the Vault, but we used roomservice once again. Just pick the things you want and hang the card on your doorhandle before 1 am and promptly at the time requested (6 am) there was a knock on the door.

Staff was friendly and helpfull. Check in was quick, check out even quicker.

We went to Niagara Falls by train, Union Station is only three blocks away, so we walked there.

The Fairmont is across the street from Union Station and that's the closest stop for the Airport Express shuttle. If you don't carry too much luggage, it's doable to walk to the Suites from this shuttle stop. If the weather is bad, you could use the underground walkway system PATH, but we found it a bit confusing.

Back to the airport we had the hotel book us a limo for 50 dollars. It's about a half hour to 45 minutes drive, depending on traffic.

It's a great bargain for such a nice hotel at this perfect location.

Stayed at 1 King West for 3 nights.

Were given an internal room in the historic wing. Personally did not mind only window overlooking internal courtyard as was not in room that much. However some may find the room to dark.

A good aspect of the room we were given was that it had a v.high ceiling so felt more spacey than was the case.

Room was clean and comfortable and of adequate size. Small kitchen as you entered room which we did not use.

Location of the hotel was great. Walking distance to all the attractions. 5 mins walk to Canoe Restaurant which is highly recommended. Breakfast diners / pubs all near too.

Overall a good stay, nothing to fault but at the same time nothing to rave about. Did the job.

The reservations for the hotel was made in May for Sept 8 to 9 and prepaid at that time.

When we got to the hotel they refused to put us on the same floor , when you book that far in advance and one person books two rooms, you would expect to be at the very least on the same floor. We were even in different parts of the hotel.

The next morning a bill is slipped under the door for the room. The hotel informs us that they did not get the paper work from The Helicopter Co. Once the error was found it was recitfy immediately.

As for the rooms they were clean and well maintaned.

We stayed for 2 nights during August. Purpose for our visit was to visit Niagara Falls. Hotel was in an excellent location with easy walking distance to everything we needed. Felt safe the entire time. Hotel lobby is very nice and well presented. Staff friendly and helpfull.

Room size was more then fine for us, not small at all. Tastefully decorated with all the mod cons needed. Great view from our windows. I am terribly fussy in regards to cleanliness and the Suites passed my test with flying colours. Comfortable bed and clean shower and toilet.

The hotel has a little store downstairs that sells coffee, sandwiches etc. You can also order breaky packs each day rather than going out. Nice little bar for drinks located in the foyer also.

I would stay here again and would recommend it. (We only wish we had more time in Toronto - very nice homely city). Great price also. I would also recommend 'Tim Hortons' bagels if your a bagel lover like me. Can be found on nearly all street corners.
