“The best place to see live bands in Toronto”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2012

I've seen many artists here. Small and intimate with an old school feel this place still manages to bring world renowned artists to town. It is well located for post gig bar hopping too!!

“Historic with great acoustics”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2012

The good: the acoustics are phenominal and the theatre is small and itimate. The orchestra seating is the best.
The bad: the seating is old and in disrepair. And, don't even think about sitting in the 2nd balcony unless you like wooden seats that were formerly known as 'student' seating, and you're about 5 feet tall and weigh 100 pounds. There is no leg room at all in the Gallery (2nd balcony) and the seats tend to be only marginally less expensive to purchase. Some performances have started to allow patrons to bring their drinks to their seats. This is really BAD. This tends to disrupt the performance with people coming and going in order to get another drink or to use the washrooms.

“A venerable stage”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2012

A must stop for any up and coming performer.

Your enjoyment here will probably depend on the band (or comedian) you see -- but as far as a venue: this place can't be beat. For the most part the acoustics and sight-lines are great. More than anything, it reeks of history and ambiance. It's the perfect size for a rock concert. If the band is any good you know the next time they come to town you'll be sitting 1km away at the back of a giant hockey rink trying to make out who is who. See them here and see and hear how they are when they really wanted to reach an audience. You can tell everyone you once saw them at Massey Hall before they were cool (I saw U2 here). Yes, it's wonderfully "historic" and some of the "obstructed view" seats suck - but that's what makes the experience so good.

“History surrounds you”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012

Massy Hall is a piece of history and a great place to catch a show or concert. Word of warning though, watch for obstructed view seating wgen you purchase. Older architecture allowed for columns to be put right in front of some seats.

“Brilliant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2012

Massey Hall is our favourite venue to see the Comidians that we love. It's a wonderful building thats just small enough so that no seat is a bad seat.
