“Amaretti melts in my mouth...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2014

Starts off crisp, with a rich and pleasant amaretto chew that melts and says goodbye like a summer night...you want it to continue. Store is a few steps away from Bathurst and King St West. Breads are good and rustic crusty or soft tomato sauced. Strange but delicious olive in a chocolate cake...maybe a munchies taste treat? After a few visits, they recognize me even if not by name, so I feel appreciated. Many cookies and breads to select. Pricey but tasty, so it's a justifiable splurge.

“Wow, a model for how coffee and cakes should be done.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2014

Stopped for a coffee whilst hunting Sunday brunch. What a gem of a place. Good, not great, coffee. But when combined with their baking skills and service this place rocks.

“Disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2013

heard and read so many rave reviews. had to go. Wide assortment of cookies and baked goods. all very tempting looking. The cookies are basic Italian with a lot of sugar. Too sweet with the flavour mia. There's a tasty egg concoction with egg, bread, sun dried tomatoes-really good. Maybe if they'd cut back on the amount of sugar, the other flavours (almond, pistachio, cocoa) might have more presence. So if you know Italian baking through your family or friends, this place is no big deal. For regular "mangiacakes" it will be worth a try.

“At Last A Fresh Daily Bakery”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2013

Seldom do you find a bakery where you can see bread coming out of an oven and stacked on trays ready for you to pickup fresh and warm.

This is one that you could mistake for a bakery in Germany. As you step down the stairs to this mid basement setup, the fresh smell of backing wraps you and a Pavlovian hunger set in.

Behind glass facing customers the baker chefs are at full throttle mixing, kneading, spreading and baking. A joy to see an operation well done, clean and inviting. Hot drinks are served with a selection of yummy sweets with minimal sitting space, an indication for you not to stay long. It is sort of grab and go place with a possibility of staying a bit for a quick bite.

A great place to pass to grab your sourdough bread while in town and on the move.

“This bread is spectacular”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013

Have tried two different loaves now -- chocolate and aniseed. The biga/sponge is perfect, the flavours subtle and the crust crunchy and just right. Have also tried a small selection of other goodies that were just as good. The sandwiches look amazing. Looking forward to trying everything especially all the breads. Yum.
