“Modern and Trendy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

This is one of our favourite hotels in Toronto. The decor is tasteful and trendy. I love the special hotel jelly beans! Some of the rooms are a little small and feel like being in a loft apartment, but the showers are unusual and a lot of fun to be in. The faucets at the sink splash water all over, though. The staff are friendly and relaxed mostly, although the odd one seems to think they are more special than the guests. The restaurant/bar/club/music is great! The food is fantastic, the bar atmosphere is lively and there are some good bands playing in the basement. The hotel is near interesting shops, restaurants and entertainment venues so it is perfect for a night out for an exciting weekend break.

This place is disguised as a boutique hotel. But it is really a sec oriented hotel there is poem in the main entrance and a sex catalogue in the room! There is no coffee maker in the room but all the booze you could want. There no doors only curtains do the room is set up for voyeurism if this is what you are looking for have fun!

Our stay at the Drake has become a memorable experience. We loved every minute of our stay. Jonathan himself greeted us when we checked in; staff was attentive, polite and extremely friendly and took care of every little detail to make us happy. Breakfast was excellent and our room very clean with a comfortable bed.

This was my first time to the Drake Hotel. The two Jonathan's at the front desk were so fun and friendly. Our room was the Crash Pad which was super clean and comfortable. Shortly after arriving someone brought cookies to our room. Love all your fun spots in the hotel. From the Sky Yard to the Café. Drake Hotel is the place to be, great service, great food, great entertainment. All I can say is I can't wait to go back. We had a blast.

Particularly if you're not keen on the typical chain hotel.
Despite what another reviewer said, the water was hot, the phone worked, and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Rooms are cosy but work fine. And the like the hotel, it's in an area where people are trying to offer something different from the generic norm that makes big brands safe money. Has a vairiet of books, snacks and drinks that fit the style of hotel.
We were on the 3rd floor and found it quiet.
No lift, kettle or fridge, but didn't bother us as cafe downstairs is excellent.
Good choice.

Great food, drinks and entertainment. Rooms are comfy. Great place to spend a few days without even having to leave the hotel. Leave your shampoo and conditioner behind. The Malin + Goetz is awesome and free in the room.

We stayed for two nights in the crash pads a few weeks ago. The crash pad rooms are small but very well designed to make best use of the space and the bed was very comfy. The hotel staff were all utterly charming and couldn't do enough to help us enjoy our first visit to Toronto.

The bar upstairs was really well designed and the cocktails really well made, plus we easily met some lovely locals having an drink after work.

We ate in the restaurant and the sushi was excellent and the service swift and charming. We also ate in the Drake's cafe for breakfast which was also very impressive and features a stunning sculpture make from bike frames. Its a great place to people watch and soak up the relaxed vibe.

The neighbourhood is really inspiring if you like lots of interesting and independent shops and eateries and the street car makes getting into the downtown area really easy.

I would heartily recommend this hip, friendly and welcoming place (a rare combination) without hesitation and we really hope to return one day.
