I stayed at the Comfort Inn in early March, and it started off on a good note. We got a deal on teambuy.ca, and it was good considering it was downtown, was for any day of the week (sometimes these deals are just for Sunday-Thursday), and included breakfast. We checked in before the check-in time, and were given two rooms of choice. Desk clerk just said the room numbers - one being on second floor, and the other on the fourth. We decided to go with the 4th floor, since it is the last floor of the building. Before our stay, had read some reviews online that advised to get a room on the higher floor (less noisy than other floors, since it is higher up away from traffic noise).
When we got to our door, I noticed the peep hole was extremely low. Room was clean, floors are a little slanted (noticed someone commented on this as well here on tripadvisor, and had read about it before our trip). Our bathroom had no counter space - I had then thought to myself and mentioned to my boyfriend that I think we had a wheelchair accessible room. We didn't think much of it, and thought perhaps all the rooms bathrooms were like that. So, we didn't mind the peep hole being low - however, it was a little inconvenient for me, when I needed to see who was at the door. It was only after our trip, I checked online pictures and turns out we were in fact given the wheelchair accessible room. Bathroom pictures have plenty of counter space. Our bathroom did not have counter space at all - this made our stay very frustrating. It was just the sink, and a very small shelf by the opposite end of the toilet - so I had to keep our toiletries in our bags or some in the bedroom. This made getting ready a little frustrating, also considering the room is not too big to begin with. I am greatly disappointed that we were not mentioned this. The clerk should have said something like, "room on 4th floor is wheelchair accessible, so wanted to notify you that the bathroom does not have counter space" or something rather.
The breakfast was mediocre - I decided to have the cereal, toast with cream cheese, sausage (although, didn't taste great), orange juice and coffee. I did not see yogurt, bacon, boiled eggs, or waffles as I see what reviewer wrote. Still good that breakfast was included though. We went about over an hour before closing - don't know if the boiled eggs and bacon go by fast? I am just glad that I got the deal on teambuy for $60 rather than paying retail.
I read reviews here that elevator was exceptionally slow, so we never took the elevator. Was never able to connect to internet from my blackberry. Perhaps it was my phone, but my boyfriend who has a android was unable to as well. Room included TV, microwave, and fridge - which made it good to have snacks on hand.
I have already sent two separate emails, but have not heard back from hotel. Not only am I disappointed with my stay - but this is unprofessional to not hear back from hotel in regards to my emails. This review is rated as "poor" and would have been a little more positive if the hotel had contacted me back. I had decided to wait before writing this review.
I might stay again if Teambuy.ca has another deal.
