“not really value for money but the things here are fine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2008

the money was quite expensive and i do not really need such a large bag. the drawback is the commonly shared toilet. other than that, the room looks pretty fine. but i must see i don't really so many mirrors in my single room. it is pretty eerie for me unless i don't think about it. it is neutral but the people here make it above average. if you are travelling by pairs, it is a good place to be at but anymore than that, it is a bit queasy to be there.

We were looking for a modest place with two rooms for several nights and thought the reviews on Trip Advisor sounded OK. We were very disappointed. Don't want to be too critical because the main house may be better, but we were down the street, the two rooms were separated by a shabby kitchen, dining room, and living room. Obviously an apartment passing as a B & B. Not particulalry clean and very musty. Shades that let in too much light at night, with no curtains to block it. Breakfast was OK, but if not a meat eater you found nothing to replace it. The carnivores seemed happy with it, and it appeared the rooms in the other house were better. But ask WHERE you will be before you sign up or you could be unhappy. Service was fine and family was very helpful with directions, suggestions, etc.

  • Disliked — musty smell in building, depressing,

My girlfriend and I loved this place! It was easy to find, It was only a 20 minute walk away from the bus terminal. We got there a little late in the night but our key was waiting for us, when we got through the front door we were amazed with the aura, the feeling was warming and comfortable, as we went into our room, we felt so relaxed, the beds were extremely comfortable, we melted when we layed down!! In the morning we met the staff, they were very welcoming, helpful and friendly and breakfast was delicious.
During our three days stay, it was more comfortable and homelike than any hotel. I would gladly recomend it to anybody.
We will definitly be staying there the next time we visit Toronto =)

One word.... Fantastic!! Well cleaned rooms. Good breakfast if you can get up that early after a night out in Toronto. And the one thing that makes it special is the people who run it! They go out of their way to make your stay pleasant and are always there to answer anything about Toronto or point you in the direction that you need to go. They are located in a great spot to get around the city ( subway/ streetcars/buses) also close to many malls, restaurant/ little villages. Also they are very respectful of everyone. We have stayed there many times over the years and will stay there for many more.
Thank You Homewood Inn Crew!!

Yes the buildings are old, but the rooms that I have stayed in are clean. It is located on a nice quiet tree lined street only a 10 minutes walk from the heart of downtown Toronto.
I had to arrive early (like 6am) one day. The owner had no problem letting me in as soon as they opened and even insisted that I have breakfast, on the house. Parking was included in the rate (usally about $25.00 for 24 hours in this part of the city) Throughout the day whenever they saw me, they asked if there was anything I needed or that they could do. And yes the price is absolutely right for downtown Toronto.
I have stayed here may times before and will continue to stay and recommend it to others.

The only thing good about this B&B was the price. It must be the most run down, tired, old & ugliest B&B I've ever stayed in! The staff was not friendly - who the other reviewers had contact with, I really don't know! Bathrooms are all shared, breakfast nothing to write home about, our room was damp and cold, the street is a haven for prostitutes with cars circling the area without end - I certainly would NEVER stay there again.

  • Liked — Nothing at all!
  • Disliked — The staff's attitude & the prostitutes in the street
  • Tips/Secrets — Avoid at all costs.
