“Excellent stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

Great getaway location. Staff was unbelievable with a special dessert left for my wife's birthday at check-in. The breakfast was absolutely spectacular as well. Only bad part is the car honking outside - the hotel is located in the entertainment district - but it can only be expected for the area. Not really an issue.

A lovely little hotel - very friendly, attentive staff - our room was excellent, good size, only thing I missed was the ability to make my own tea, but there is a machine in the lobby sitting area, along with a glorious 'feature' wood burning stove. Bed was very comfortable and we were not bothered by noise at all. Crisp green apples for the taking! Breakfast was very good, some wonderful fresh fruit and plenty of different breads (for toasting or otherwise), loads of pastries, some cheeses, ham one day, smoked salmon the next, boiled eggs; the staff made your tea/coffee requests. Also ate at the hotel restaurant, which I can recommend as a friendly place with rather good food (and some excellent local wine). I'd certainly stay here again.

I love small, eclectic hotels that have an eye for detail and good staff. This is exactly what you get at Le Germain. If you live and die for Marriott or other chain points, this hotel may not be for you; however, if you prefer stylish comfort with a fun edge to the same old same old, this is the place to stay in Toronto.

From the time I entered the doors I realized that there was something unique
For me a boutique hotel is about high quality paired with a personalized service. Everyone we came in contact was potion, friendly and seemed to genuinely care about us. But yet it was not overdone nor did it feel obsequious the fingerprints of the owner were evident The luxury room that we chose for our longish (10day stay) was spacious but after a complimentary upgrade to a new junior suite we asked to go back to original room as it seemed better suited for our needs as a couple. There were small faults but if we menyioned anything we needed, whether to the maid or a manager someone arrived to deal with it in a matter of minutes. We like to sleep with a window open with the downside of street nise first from the clubs across Mercer Street and then the construction site next door with an entrance to the Toronto underground a few steps away we could walk to most of the downtown without being exposed to the weather We would definatly return

Just finished a two day conference using this hotel facilities. Superb in every sphere. Warm and inviting foyer. ALL staff professional, friendly, without exception from front desk, concierge, waitstaff, doormen, valets etc. Food fabulous. Conference room (Dominion Room) perfect for up to 25 - 30 max, AV worked flawlessly. Breakfast room comfortable. Even bathrooms are designed with comfort in mind. This was our second conference here, couldn't believe standards could improve since it was great the first time, but they did outdo themselves again.

Room Tip: rooms on north side may be quieter, there is a club across the street but I asked friends who were o...

We loved this place. The staff are all friendly and the room and front lobby hangout are clean, quiet, cozy, warm and hip. Nice touch having the coffee/cappucino machine in the room and front lobby. Great location in the city - in the thick of it all, but really quiet considering. Loved the breakfast - simple but sustaining. A very nice treat in the form of an unsolicited dessert was waiting for us in our room to wish us a happy anniversary - a really nice touch. All in all a great landing pad for visiting Toronto - wish we could have stayed longer.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012 via mobile

I have been planning to stay at this hotel for some time know since I read a glowing review when it opened in TO. From the interior design perspective it's a beaitiful boutique hotel although the rooms show some wear and tear. We had a deluxe room with a shower only on the 8th floor facing King Street. The room was spacious and very functional with lots of room to move about, plenty of storage for everything, and many thoughtful details like an umbrella, robes, and even a magnifying vanity mirror. Check-in/out was very smooth, breakfast - healthy and more than sufficient, and common areas were well laid out and decorated. That's where the hotel's 4 stars are well deserved.
The main reason that I rated my stay as only Average is because it was lacking in a comfortable sleep department and for me it's a big factor. The mattress was too firm for my comfort and the pillow top was somewhat slim so I could not get comfortable. And to top that up I could hear traffic on King St, particularly emergency vehicles, all night long. In other words, no sweet dreams in my dream hotel, which is too bad because Le Germain has a lot going for it.
