“Best dim sum in downtown Toronto!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

I tried Pearl, Lai Wah Heen and Dynasty and then I tried Crown Princess which I had never noticed despite living just a few blocks away on the same street: dim sum here is definitely the best that downtown has to offer. Good variety, opulent surroundings, good service, and lots of daily specials coming out all the time. It's not the old style trolley dim sum but you tick your choices on paper and the food keeps rolling out. Superb, and I keep on coming back.

“Elegant dinning experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013 via mobile

We found this restaurant through trip advisor for meeting a relative from HK visiting Toronto on his business trip. It first impressed me by its decor, which is very elegant. The waitresses were dressed professionally and were courteous. The room is very large and very quiet, which is good for both a family chat and business. In terms of the food, The Peking duck is one of the best ones I have tried both in China and North America. The crab meat soup is smooth and delicious. The fried scallop and shrimp ball will become one of my favorite dish in this restaurant, except the quantity is bit too little. The price is on the high end side, but if you are looking for a fine Chinese cuisine dinning experience in downtown Toronto, this is one of the best places to go.

“Marble Marble Marble”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

Decor is over the top with marble. Must have spent a fortune decorating. Place is big yet comfortable. Staff formally dressed. Food was excellent as was service. Great Peking duck. Right up there with Lai Wah Heen. Not inexpensive but in line with quality and service.

They serve great Dim Sum although didn't try it.

“Don't Waste Your Money”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

I cannot believe the people who are giving this place a five star. If this place was in Hong Kong or Shanghai, people would not frequent it, nor give them the time of day - or demand their money back. It started off very, very well. When they first opened up, I would have given them a 4.5 - 5 star, but the quality of the food has deteriorated significantly, the service is morose and the prices are way too expensive for the level and quality of cuisine they provide. The physical surroundings are very opulent - lots of marble, etc. My advice to the Management of this restaurant: pay more attention to the food you prepare and provide rather than the state of the decor. It also seems to be less busy than it used to be - no surprise there. Very disappointing. This place has lots of potential - and they need to pull themselves up by the bootstraps, and quickly!

“Seriously good Chinese food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

We went here on a Tuesday night expecting Dim sum. To our surprise, dim sum ends at 4 pm. Who knew? We never saw that mentioned in any of the other reviews. We were seated in a side dining room and after looking at the menu thought we were in the wrong place and said so to the server. She explained about dim sum only being served until 4 pm but suggested we try the duck two ways- they debone and deconstruct the duck table side so you get some sliced duck breast for these little burrito like things with hoisin sauce and then they chop up the rest of the duck meat into little pieces and stir fry it with veggie bits, lemon chicken with the crispest outside and not too sweet lemon sauce, some sautéed veggies and a pepper beef dish with fresh red and green peppers and asparagus, We decided to stay and take her advice. We are so glad we did! This was a delicious preparation of American style Chinese food that did not disappoint! We had 3 beers and a bottle of wine and all those dishes for four of us for about $160. We had to take plenty home. Despite the opulent decor(purple crushed velvet wall pieces with "diamonds" and lots of marble and granite along with crystal chandeliers) we really enjoyed the food and the service was doting and excellent.
