“Sweet Craft; Great Skipper and Mate”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

My companion found the Boatel as an alternate to yet another manic conference hotel. I walked there from the ferry to the downtown airport, along the quay. The location is very convenient to downtown. The boat itself is tidier than any I have known. The hosts made us feel welcome, without pressure, immediately. Their dinner and activity recommendations were welcome and spot on. The breakfasts are wonderful and served on a splendid deck. You are a part of the waterfront. Runners, bikers, strollers, dogs (ask about Apollo), and boats pass by all day; close, yet with the privacy of railings and elevation. Three tall sailing ships are berthed directly aft (behind). The realities of berths and shared (spotless) heads may not be for everyone - but if you have any sense of adventure and interest in different experiences? This is a no-brainer. Our weather was sublime (especially for very late September), but I would book this again, knowing it was going to rain through the entire stay.

We wanted a different experience and got it. The location of the Boatel is perfect & in prime location on the waterfront. We stayed in the bondi cabin obviously less room than in a hotel but very comfortable & we had plenty of room for everything. Diane's breakfasts were very nice and diferent everyday & having my morning coffee sitting out at the back of the boat with a view of the CN Tower on one side & the lake on the other was just perfect. My husband wanted to visit a dive shop & as Diane explained it was difficult to reach without a car took us out there in hers. Both Ted & Diane make great hosts & were both very helpfull when it came to planning our days, booking trips & making dinner reservations for us.Definitely recomend you visit you won't be disappointed.

We're glad that you decided to stay at the Boatel on your holidays and enjoyed your stay. It's wonderful for us when nice people like you stay for 6 nights, feels like we have friends visiting! Hope you enjoyed the wee bit of Canadian Rye and Maple Liqueur.
Cheers Diane & Ted

It started out me looking for a place to stay when a room couldn't be found in Toronto, but Boatel came back in the search results. After staying with Diane and Ted for two nights while on business, I've got to admit this is a class in it's own. Two of the most peaceful sleeps in ages topped off with home cooked breakfast each morning before I walked to my downtown clients. The experience from arrival to departure was nothing short of exceptional. I will definaitely be back.

I attended a large conference in Toronto recently and stayed at the Boatel.

Here were the advantages I found to staying there:
1) Quiet locale. Instead of all the hubbub at a conference hotel, I returned to a wonderful, calm, "home."
2) Hosting. I was able to invite colleagues back for a drink on the deck and we could have relaxed and substantive discussions.
3) Close by. I was closer to the convention center than some of the folks in official hotels (not as close as the nearest of course).
4) Biking. For $5 for a 24 hour period, I could jump on a community bike at the docks and park the bike 5 minutes later at the convention center.
5) Cost. The Boatel was considerably cheaper than the conference hotels.
6) Curiosity factor. At the conference everyone asks as a matter of course, "Where are you staying?" It was a great ice-breaker to say, "On the harbor in a boat!"

This was our first time in Toronto and we came for a concert at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre. We decided to stay at the Boatel because of its convenient location (just a 30 minute walk to the Amphitheatre and a 10 minute walk to the CN-Tower), but it was much better than just that.

The hosts Diane and Ted made us feel right at home on the boat. They were always helpful and provided us with tons of information about Toronto and coupons for the city's main attractions.

The interior of the Boatel looks like a picture-perfect yacht with lots of brass and polished hardwood on floors and walls. Our berths were cozy and the waves rocked us gently to sleep. The delicious breakfast was served on the quarterdeck with a nice view across the harbor to the Toronto Islands.

The Boatel is Bed & Breakfast at its finest with a nice little twist.

Just returned from another great visit on "The Boatel" with Diane and Ted. We keep coming back because of Diane and Ted and of course the great breakfasts. Diane has more great recipes in her repertoire so we will return to sample more. The boat is amazing and so is the location. See you both next year and thanks again! Deb and Bob
