I used to frequent South of Temperance at lunch with coworkers when I had time to take a lunch. That was a year ago, and a year ago this place was great. The servers were friendly and they had great food (Not Your Grandmother's Grilled Cheese was my favourite, which is no longer on the menu). I went for lunch with coworkers today for the first time in a year, and things have really slid downhill. The menu has changed, and for the worse - not as many interesting or unique offerings as before. I had the Adobo Chicken Panini with a side Caesar salad - the panini was fine, a bit on the bland side. The caesar salad isn't what it used to be, and doesn't have the same anchovy bite that it used to. Our server was very quiet and not as attentive as the service once was.
All in all, this place is just fine. Nothing bad, nothing great, just fine. If this was a year ago I would've happily given South of Temperance a 4/5, but it is not up to that standard anymore. I don't plan to go back or recommend this place, there are other places in Toronto that are less boring and bland.
