I am just going to say this. I will never even look for an alternative in Toronto... Ritz it is! Great room, great location, good restaurant... Did I say the room was great? Stayed here at least 3 times already. In all of them left wanting more.

Stayed January 2014, traveled on business

My wife and I stayed at the Ritz for a night out in the city. Very well located property as you would expect, and for the price you're paying service, room quality, and amenities all fit the bill. Form the hotel, you can walk around to most of the important places to visit in Toronto.

Room Tip: Avoid the 48$ valet service if you can and park at a neighbouring lot.

If you are looking for the best hotel in Toronto. The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto is the place. Now if you dont have the money dont come here :). If you want luxury this is the place. The spa was great not cheap. Again this hotel is not for everyone.

Room Tip: Ask me anything you want.

The rooms are lovely and large, really well appointed with great bathrooms. Service was spot on with nothing too much trouble - the staff are all very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was really good with a decent selection to choose from - we didn't use the restaurant in the evening preferring to eat out. Location is good and getting to and from the hotel is straight forward. Wifi when we stayed was rubbish - either slow or kept dropping out.

My husband and I were in Toronto in November for him to attend business meetings. We decided to stay at The Ritz because of its proximity to his meetings and entertainment. To be honest, the other reason was because The Shore Club is situated right beside the hotel, our favourite steakhouse. It was only a short walk to the subway and the Eaton Centre for shopping. The staff at The Ritz were absolutely amazing. Not only the front desk but the lounge staff as well. I've stayed in many hotels at the club lounge level and have never been treated so well. I was greeted each time I entered the lounge and the staff went out of their way to make me comfortable. Our hotel room was spotlessly clean and well appointed. We may be going back to Toronto in the spring and if we're lucky the fall of 2015, I already know where I'm staying, The Ritz.

Room Tip: The rooms are quite large and I don't think you can go wrong with either the north or south side...

This hotel never disappoints. Staff attentive to every customer need, clean well appointed rooms, and in-house amenities, make this a repeat stay hotel. Dined most nights in the downstairs cafe and enjoyed an eclectic menu. Central location allows relatively easy access to river walks, museums, and fine restaurants nearby.

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the water, if available. Great view!

A group of us booked massages for the Spa. We started by what was supposed to have been lunch in the DEQ. It was arranged and reservations were taken. When we arrived, they advised it was closed and that they were completely booked for Tea.
The Spa itself began with a very chaotic and frenzied demand for information, typically this is done with a more personal touch.
Locker rooms were not explained. Open bowls of snacks in a large impersonal waiting area.
The massage was ok... not terrific performed by an RMT.
When again, in a frenzy, we were presented with the bill, there was an automatic gratuity attached to the amount. How dare they put guests in such an awkward position. By saying, we've added a gratuity but you don't have to if you don't want it takes away any Zen experience. The massage was performed by a Registered Professional, therefore, as a professional, a tip is not appropriate, unless you are in the habit of tipping your md , dentist, etc
we were very unhappy about the experience and it turned a good afternoon sour.
None of the 5 of us would go again and we will tell our friends.

Dear FoodBlonde,
Thank you for your feedback and I apologize for the less than exceptional experience in our Spa as well as for the disappointing lunch arrangements in DEQ. As you will see from other comments your experience is not the norm and I would sincerely like an opportunity to recover and gain your trust. Please contact me at 416 472 8010 or tim.terceira@ritzcarlton.com

Regarding "tipping" for RMT Therapist services in a Spa, this practice is universal and is not considered the same as services provided by MD's, Dentists or Physiotherapists. From time to time guests do prefer to determine the tip amount, however most like the convenience of an automatic gratuity and we always disclose the option. I appreciate you feelings about thisand please know we would never want you to feel uncomfortable.
Warm regards and thank you for the opportunity to respond
