My boyfriend and I aren't the Valentines celebrating couple, but Justin Timberlake was in town so he treated me to a great night. Aside from finding the hotel, which speaks more to my poor sense of direction downtown, we were nothing short of amazed at the hotel.
Let's start with Valet. Great service, extremely pleasant gentlemen. I'm 5'1 and it's hard to get my seating in my car just right, I jokingly pleaded with the valet not to move the seat unless absolutely necessary and he assured me he'd put the shortest guy on the job. I appreciated his humour, his service, and the fact that my car seat never once shifted. Plus their parking is heated which made our departure from the hotel comfortable.
Checking in with the staff was a pleasant experience. The decor and atmosphere welcome you as soon as you step in, as well as the employees. It was nice to be greeted by people who obviously enjoy their job.
Elevators operate on the swipe of your room card. (I'm still five on the inside so I was thrilled by this.) and the hallways are beautifully decorated. A wall mounted, lit shelf of apples beckons you as you walk to your room; I suppose I would have grabbed one if they were apple pies, but I assure you they were real apples for anyone's snacking enjoyment.
Then you enter your room and if your breath is not taken away, well then you're far more pampered than me. The rooms are modern, spacious, well designed, and well decorated. There was a beautiful standing shower (rainfall faucet) surrounded by two glass walls (with blinds for the bashful) and sliding glass doors, a beautiful closet area, complete with his and hers compartments, a stunning sink, and the actual toilet area enclosed behind a sliding fogged door.
The desk ran along the far wall, under the window, giving you ample space to set up a laptop, and/or dump your purse/man-bag, offer you a personal coffee machine, and a full-stocked mini-bar underneath. There was a beautiful couch and ottoman that was more comfortable than it looked. The television was on point with the theme of the hotel: modern, sleek, great quality. And it sat in a beautiful entertainment console that also housed the iron and fold-out ironing board, and bar glasses/wine glasses for the alcohol enthusiasts.
Time for the main attraction, because any hotel is only as good as it's beds. I almost wanted to skip the concert and just sleep on this amazing mattress and it's unbelievably comfortable pillows. Seriously, make sure you set an alarm because you could miss check out and pay for an extra night to sleep in this amazing bed. Though, that may be worth it. The room also came equipped with a sound system that connected to your iPod (old pin generation) and charged it, or other mp3s via Aux in, and was remote control capable. It was a great bonus for us audiophiles.
The hotel has a great little lounge at the entrance that serves a partial menu from the nearby E11even restaurant. Service, interaction, atmosphere, drinks, and food were all great. Then you learn that you won't even need your coat if you're going to the ACC (or your purse if you can stuff everything in your pockets!) since there is a sheltered walkway that takes you straight in. On the way there's a grocery store, a bank, an LCBO, and Real Sports bar for all your inebriation and dietary needs.
I honestly could not ask more of this hotel, and would definitely love to return sooner rather than later. If you're ever uncertain on which hotel to settle on for a night or two in Downtown Toronto and your budget can afford it or they have a great deal, definitely and I mean DEFINITELY go with Hotel Le Germain Maple Leaf Square.
As you wait to check out or for your valet you're offered water, more apples, or a newspaper.
Go, and go fast!
