Make sure you plan on staying for an amazing unforgettable sunset. Bring everything you need as there is only a small snack bar that operates on limited hours. Lake Ontario warms up through the summer so you do see people swimming. Bear in mind that the temperature on the beach is always a little bit cooler than in the city. And sometimes it can be raining in the city but sunshine on Hanlon's Point. Bring food, bottled water, beer cooler or wine, Frisbee, beach blanket, sunglasses and baby wipes. (Might want to bring extra beer or cigarettes as they seem to be in short supply). There are outdoor showers and a relatively clean washroom facility close to the beach. Hanlon's Point is about a 15 minute walk from the Island Dock. There is a ferry schedule on line if you wish to check the hours of service. During peak season you may wish to skip the ferry and take a water taxi (located by Sobeys). Pay for the taxi to the Island and take the ferry back after your day at the beach. It's a friendly crowd. Easy to avoid the pervy creeps. And truly clothing optional. Some go au natural, some women go topless and some stay clothed. The Long Weekends can get quite crowded. The weekdays are the best time to just chill and relax.
