We read the reviews and were skeptical, but decided to stay here as my husband is a Priority Club Member. The hotel is well-located, a couple of blocks from Yonge Street on Carlton, near a subway station, with Eaton Center within walking distance. We were pleasantly surprised with the hotel, and our stay has been great. The lobby is attractive, and every area was neat and clean. All the hotel personnel we encountered were polite and helpful. The hotel has been recently updated, and the renovations are wonderful. We were given a suite, which is on the small side, but more than adequate. The furnishings are very nice; the bed is wonderful, with European style bedding and an assortment of pillows. Marble countertops in the living area and bathrooms compliment the dark wood and neutral tones. The bathroom is small but has everything, including a glass enclosed, tub length, wonderful shower. The breakfast may be complementary, depending on your package. It's a much better Holiday Inn breakfast than I have had at any other Holiday Inn. In addition, based on hotel rates in Toronto, this hotel is quite a good value. There is parking, with a self-park lot at a reduced rate. Based on our stay, I would absolutely recommend this hotel.

You might be asking, how could the hotel location be improved, when the hotel hasn't moved?

Right next door, the historic Maple Leaf Gardens has been rescued by Ryerson University, and is now an athletic center for the university, and with the largest urban supermarket, a Loblaws, I have ever seen is now on the ground floor of the former area. Great for running to for beverages, snacks, and even meals. This formerly forlorn corner is now vibrant, and the care with which the arena was renovated is incredible. It used to pain me so to see the area abandoned, in cobwebs, waiting for the wrecker's ball.

The hotel room was comfortable, with very comfy mattress, an assortment of pillows, flat screen TV, working A/c, and a window that opens. The bathroom is compact, but with a large modern shower.

I stayed three nights, and it was a very good value.

Room Tip: I was put on the upper floor that was reserved for Priority Club members. I don't know what was...

I was a little dubious about staying in a Holiday Inn as I was expecting more of a "budget" style hotel. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were comfortable, if rather small. Nice bathroom with a massive walk in shower, fresh towels, face cloths, toileteries and dressing gowns - you dont get those in many more upmarket hotels. Reception staff were very helpful. When we had problems with the safe in our room they sent someone straight up to fix it.

We stayed for a week whilst my husband was on business and myself and my 8 year old daughter were left to explore on our own. The hotel is very central for the subway, buses and street cars and only a short walk from the shops etc. We found our way around easily (the subway was far easier to navigate than the London Underground!) and saw lots of Toronto. The hotel has lots of information about attractions and someone in the foyer to help bookings for trips and tours.

I would say the only downside is the size of the rooms. Fine for one (maybe 2 people) but with 3 of us staying for a week we had a fair amount of stuff and there was very, very little drawer/hanging space. Other than that, couldnt really fault it.

Location was great. Across street from College subway station, which was only a 10 min ride to the Air Canada Center, Skydome, and CN Tower. Close to Yonge street, so lots of places to eat, shop etc.

I found the room to be a bit on the small size, but it was very clean, and bathroom seemed to be recently renovated, it was very nice!! Lots of towels, and nice shower.

I found that the street in front of hotel got a little crazy later at night. After midnight, the crazies came out. But I still felt safe and they left me alone.

The lounge just off the lobby was very nice. Servers were great and food and drink was priced fair.

Check in was quick and easy, with no surprises.

Tip: You can park in parking lot around back and the hotel will validate the parking so you dont have to pay for parking. Otherwise its about $25 to park per day.

Overall a great 2-night stay, I would stay again.

Clean, upgraded room. Nicely appointed bathroom. No tub but the walk-in shower was as big as the tub would have been, with a hand held rain-shower/massage head: very nice! Bed was comfortable. Small fridge and safe available in the closet. Room was the smallest hotel room I've ever been in but since there was only me, it was acceptable. Also had a robe which was a very nice touch.
I had asked for a quiet room since I had an all-day seminar to attend the next day and needed sleep. They put me on the 20th floor at the back, so it was very quiet with no traffic noise.
The Loblaws is almost next door which was great to get some drinks and snacks at.
The window was rather dirty but there was a note on the desk saying they were cleaning them and to make sure you kept the curtains closed during the day if you wanted privacy, so I'm sure they are taking care of this issue.
There was no soap or teabags when I first arrived, but I mentioned this on my way out to shop and by the time I was back, there was a bag with the missing items on my bed. (Although they only provided one bag of mint tea, which I found odd. A regular black tea would have been good, too.)
Price wasn't bad for Toronto ($179).
Would recommend if you need to stay in this part of the city.
