“Nice place, very clean.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2006

I was there this past July 4th weekend, it is a nice place but I don't think that it is a true 3 stars hotel, to me is more like a 2 stars bedroom hotel with a 3 star front lobby. The pools are ok, service is fine, but they really need to fixup the place becuase it is really showing it's age. The part that I hate the most is that they charge you $10 per day for parking specially when the hotel is not even located at downtown.

I'm not sure what the Crowne Plaza brand represents so this hotel may be a normal example. It seemed like a glorified Holiday Inn (for instance it had these long drab corridors) but it was pretty good overall, i.e. successfully glorified. Not as nice as I expected -- I should have remembered that nice Toronto hotels are very expensive -- but it was a very decent place to stay. The desk staff was excellent and gave us another room with no fuss when the first one had an unbreathable perfume atmosphere. The new one was fine. Whoever they're catering too by leaving the lights and radio on to greet you in the room and lavender sheet spray on the bed, it ain't me.

Print out a map of the access road and the directions, and you'll be fine. You have to loop around a cloverleaf that's the opposite direction from where you can see the hotel. The parking fee is annoying this far from the city, but I think this might be a Toronto government thing, not under the hotel's control.

We've stayed downtown in past years and taken the subway to an annual event near Bloor/Danforth and the Don Valley, and thought we'd try the suburban route this time. But that's not ideal either -- we're still looking.

My husband, stepdaughter and I stayed at the Dom Valley Crowne Plaza
in September. 2005. We were very impressed and would highly recommend the hotel.

The lobby was very elegant, the staff was extremely helpful and the breakfast buffet was amazing. We were on a package and felt that we received quite a bit for the money. The desk clerk even gave us complimentary Zoo tickets. A very nice gesture.

The pools were very nice. I loved the indoor pool early morning, I had it all to myself. The Health Club and Spa looked very inviting but due to time limitations we were unable to use them.

The Sleep Advantage beds definately run a close second to the Westin Heavenly beds. You get a tremendous nights sleep and do not want to get up. They even provide a CD (for relaxation) and a Sony CD player.

The only downside we found was the difficulty in figuring how to get to the hotel from the parkway. We could see it but after two attempts to locate the drive, we finally found it. The hotel has a small sign...a very small sign, a larger one would help greatly.

All in all, it was a great hotel and we would stay again! Glad we passed up the downtown hotels and found this little bit of heaven tucked away on the Dom Valley Parkway!

Two daughters (ages 12/8) and I stayed at the Crowne Plaza Don Valley from June 25-28, 2005. I researched many Toronto-area hotels on TripAdvisor before making this choice, and I was not disappointed. The problem with many big cities like Toronto is the downtown accomodations are pricey and not that great, unless all your activity will be downtown. In our case, we planned to visit Paramount's Wonderland, the Ontario Science Centre, and Toronto Zoo in addition to the downtown attractions. The Crowne Plaza is a nice location for the outer area attractions, being a five-minute drive from the Science Centre, and about 20 minutes from the Zoo. Wonderland is about 45 minutes. Being right off the Don Valley Parkway and Eglinton Avenue provided easy acess to the other major highways and public tranist if you desire not to drive to downtown.

The hotel is four-star, with a small spa, indoor/outdoor pools, Starbucks and restaurant on location, concierge service, etc. We stayed as part of a package that came out around $100 U.S. per night, including parking and free breakfast each morning. They also have Zoo packages, and the gift shop sells discounted tickets to Wonderland. The other reviewers are right - Westin Hotels have new competitors in the "Most Comfortable Bed" category. The only issue with the hotel is that there are no restaurants, stores, etc. within easy walking distance. You do need a car to stay here -- but the suburban location probably indicates that you have one to even consider staying here. Overall, this is a great place, especially if you plan on the kid-oriented attractions. Please see attached photos.

The Crowne Plaza is superb value for the money. We took the Zoo package and appreciated the 2 entrance admissions for the zoo and the fact our whole family's delicious breakfast buffet was included.

The staff in the hotel are uniformly pleasant and respectful as well as helpful. The hotel has an elegant feel and the patrons don't get the feeling of staying in a large city, as the hotel is surrounded by green space.

The room was too small for 2 adults and 2 children and a large amount of luggage. We appreciated the free internet connection, and the amazing bedding and beds, as well as the sleep CD and extras.

Aside from the room's relatively small size, I cannot think of any other concern to express about the hotel. I would definitely stay there again if I needed to.

Stayed here for 6 nights in July 2005. Staff extremely helpful and polite. Lovely big room with balcony overlooking a wooded area. Very clean and spacious. Breakfasts brilliant, everything you could possibly want to choose from. Nice outdoor and indoor pools, gym, sauna and spa. Never crowded, went to the gym 4 times, only 3 of us in. Not close to anywhere, so either hire a car or bus stop just outside side of hotel that takes you all the way down to Eglinton, then to Subway, all for £1.25 return, marvellous and so reliable. Would highly recommend this hotel, we had a brilliant stay.
