“A very pleasant green space.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013 via mobile

The Toronto Islands provided a green space and peaceful waterfront that the city sadly lacks. It was a simple and inexpensive way to escape the noise and dirt of the building site that is downtown Toronto! The island cafe near the Ward Island ferry port provided a good cappucino and homemade muffin for a mid morning break. The Carousel restaurant near the arched bridge provided the worst food I have encountered in a long time (rotten salad leaves and someone's hair in the beef sandwich). Don't use it. I did not try the other food outlets. If we had taken a picnic, there were ample places to enjoy a quiet lunch along the delightful walk between Ward Island and Hanlan's point on what for us was a warm, sunny June day.

“Good fun - hire a bike”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

We had a great half day at the park.

My advice is to get a map from tourist info centre just near the point you get off boat at centre island. Walk to the north of island, takes 5-10 minutes, and hire a bike or 2-4 seater quad-recycle. Cost is cheap and you can deal round the island in 1-2 hours.

“Quiet Oasis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

I hadn't been to Toronto Island in many years. There is a small area called Centreville on the island that is like a small amusement park for the children. Nice place but extremely busy if you go on a Saturday. We were there on a Friday and the ferry over to the island wasn't crowded. My husband and I walked around the island and ate at a lovely restaurant called "The Rectory Café". It's like an outside bistro surrounded by greenery and garden. The ferry ride cost $7.00 (adult) and was well worth the price. The only problem was the washroom facilities weren't well maintained. Otherwise I would have given this place 5 stars!

“A great escape”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

I loved the boat ride over but be warned if you go on the weekend they don't always get you back to Toronto. I paid a bigger boat $5 so I could get back. If you go walk around to where the open stage area is on the front shore and get a large boat.
