Owner description: Kensington Market is just to the west of Chinatown and is the bohemian heart of Canada, based in a multicultural history it is now a flurry of independent stores, restaurants, bars and shops that bring the world's foods to one tightly knit community. You can find any food on the planet in Kensington Market. It is not an uncommon thing to find a festival in Kensington Market making the bohemian party atmosphere complete. Tip for Kensington, take the transit. Streets are packed and traffic is insane, parking is non-existent.

“Fun eclectic neighbourhood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

My husband and I were in Toronto for just a few days, and made a point of visiting Kensington Market. What an interesting neighbourhood, filled with many shops offering organic goods and vegan-friendly food. We visited in March, and it was super busy, so I cannot imagine what it's like in summertime. I was surprised that they allow vehicles on the narrow streets - if you do attempt to drive in the area, extreme patience is a must!! Pedestrians are forever darting in and out of traffic, and we even saw a young lady dancing with a hula-hoop in the middle of the street. It's an artsy district with lots of restaurants that we would have loved to have tried. I'd highly recommend checking out Kensington Market, and would definitely go again if I'm ever back in Toronto!

“Unique spot!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

This is definitely a unique spot in Toronto. There are lots of markets, places to eat and vintage stores. It's worth a visit when in Toronto. Check out the Moonbeam Café, The Grilled Cheese (best grilled cheese ever) and the beads and buttons at Courage my Love as well as the vintage treasures at Bungalow. I unfortunately was only in the area during a very short period of time and during really bad weather, so I'm sure I missed out on a lot, including the vibe and energy of the place. It was pretty quiet when I was exploring the area. I will definitely go back in the summer, I can only imagine how beautiful and unique it will be then.

“This place holds a special place in the hearts of many Torontonians.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

I love Kensington. Great meat and cheese and cheap fruit and vegetables. Amazing coffee in any number of little coffee spots. Home to creativity for generations. Some tourists find bits of The Market a bit edgy, but it's super friendly and very, very local. It's going through changes, with condos moving in and the value of real estate climbing at a ridiculous rate in the city, but the area holds true to how it's been for decades. Some summer Sundays it's pedestrian only and well worth a wonder. If you're not sure about a shop or restaurant, suck it up and go inside to see what you'll find. Most places are very, very affordable.

“A great market to roam”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

This is also a place I like to visit. It is different than the St. Lawrence Market and everyone visiiting Toronto should stop over at the market and this area.

“Love Kensington Market but what is up with all the Tagging!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

I could spend days here a must see. Great place to find awesome food, clothes and to people watch! I was disappointed that much of the awesome street art is being covered by taggers!
