I stayed at the Comfort Suites for 4 nights recently, and found it generally very good. It is one of the cheapest large hotels you'll find in the downtown area. Although probably at the outskirts of 'downtown', it is very convenient for the Eaton Centre and Dundas subway station, which then gets you all over the city. There is also a tram running along outside the building (although i personally got around fine without using trams). It took me about 20-25 mins to walk all the way to the CN tower, so it is easily walkable to other downtown attractions. I didn't have any problems with the neighbourhood- I saw more homeless people etc in the central downtown part- although i would definitely stick to the main roads at night (which are all well lit with wide pavements).

Rooms were a great size and clean, although my shower wasn't as great as another reviewer claimed. The TVs had about 60 channels, which is great to someone used to the Uk selection, and there were movies and playstation games available at extra cost.

The hotel has a nice big lobby and a very decent restaurant/bar attached. There is a slightly tacky gift shop inside which is never-the-less useful for bottles of water/ evening snacks etc. As others have mentioned, the breakfast is very basic- sugary cereals, toast, muffins and fruit basically (but it is included in the room rate, so is still worth going to). I found the staff to be generally helpful and polite, although i never had any cause to really 'test' them in that respect, as everything went without a hitch.

As a last point, I would recommend getting the airport shuttle bus if arriving at Pearson airport, as you can get off at Bond Place and its only a 5 minute walk along the road- should be much cheaper than a taxi.

“Location is Not that bad... its only a few mins to Dundas Sq”

We stayed in the Comfort Suites for 5 nights & found it to be an excellent choice. The neighbourhood is not as bad as some of the previous reviews make out. There was four in our party & we NEVER encountered any trouble or NEVER felt unsafe @ any stage during our stay. On the contary we walked from the hotel to the downtown area every day. There are a number of other hotels in the vicinity & surely if it was a bad area they would not have located there. The hotel is located at a busy intersection of Dundas St West & Jarvis & The Eaton Centre/Dundas Square is only a 5 min walk away. But enough of the perceived negatives of previous visitors & let me highlight the positives!
The hotel is itself is clean & modern with large rooms. There is an excellent buffet breakfast served until 10.30 each day. The pool is quite small but the spa bath is a good way to relax after a day's sightseeing/shopping. The walk to downtown can take 10-15mins but there is good public transport & taxi's are reasonable. The Toronto Film Festival was in full flow whilst we we in the city which created a nice buzz. Toronto is a really nice place to visit & I would recommend it & The Comfort Suites to everyone.

“Better than I expected”

I had booked a King room online, and much to my delight we were upgraded to a Penthouse suite, same price. It was very spacious and clean, but it needs updating. The decor was pretty average. Staff at the desk were friendly. There was no indoor parking left, so we had to park at an outdoor lot across the street from the back of the hotel. It wasn't even on the property, yet they charge $16 a day.
We ate at Caseys, the onsite restaurant. Very good meal. It's true that it isn't the best area, but it is only a short 10 minute walk to Yonge St.
My overall impression: the price is right, the hotel is not terrible, but it is not a 4 star establishment. It could use a renovation. New carpets etc.
The hallways were spotless, as was the room. Lovely lobby. For those of you who are complaining about the 'drug deals' out on the street, well you can pay $400 a night at a 4 star place and see a drug deal as well. Downtown is downtown.

“HUGE MISTAKE”

Upon arrival at the comfort suites, we saw numerous drug activites--before we even got out of the car, we had a beggar knocking on the window. The room stunk and had burn holes in the sheets--immediately we booked another hotel. The conceirge there told us that the Comfort Suties is located in one of Toronto's few sleazy neighborhoods. TERRIBLE HOTEL

Stayed here with my partner for a week in november, we were very pleased at this hotel the room was nice plenty of space for the two of us, it had everything that we needed, large king size bed, fidge, microwave, clean bathroom. We made use of the pool most days and the hot tub which was very relaxing after walking around toronto all day. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, we would stay here again and recomend this hotel.
