“Great location, spacious rooms and friendly helpful staff.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2007

Stayed here for 3 very comfortable nights. Situated in the heart of downtown Toronto its within easy walking distance of good restaurants, shopping centres, the waterfront and many attractions. The airport bus sets down and picks up from the hotel, The subway is within a few yards as is the PATH underground walkway. Staff were friendly and helpful and service very good. The only downside for me was the Garden Restaurant within the hotel that was very much a grab and run type self service cafe. The nearby restaurants however compensated. Try "35 Elm St" or Frascati's within yards of the hotel if you like Itialian.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2007

I stayed two nights at the Delta Chelsea with my husband and two children. I booked a special internet rate through the hotel website for an upgraded room (from standard.) The rooms are on the small size but very nicely decorated with very comfortable beds & flat screen TV. Ours had a balcony overlooking the courtyard where a pancake brunch is served on the week-ends. This is a full service hotel and the lobby is very large and very busy, with many banks of elevators and lines of people waiting to exchange money, check-out, etc. The service is decent (room service one night was excellent!) and there is something for everyone: A kid's club on the second floor with a great pool and a two story water slide, life guards, sauna, a separate family locker room, game room and play room for the younger set. On the top floor of the hotel is the adult pool and hot tub, great work out facilities, outdoor deck, and food/bar area, very nicely decorated. Hotel is in the midst of lots of shopping, not far from CN Tower and Blue Jays, leave your car in the garage ($$$) and take cabs to go in that direction of town, short cab ride.

  • Liked — Kids of all ages had something to do at the end of the day; one restaurant "cafeteria" style with very good food at decent prices.
  • Disliked — Long walk from elevator to room.

Stayed for 1 night. Room was very good. It is easy to get to other parts of the city from the hotel.

My experience at the Delta was mixed. First, the staff was terrific, and the kids program was great.
The upgraded room was tired and the bathroom was a bit grubby, chipped tile, peeling wallpaper etc... I would only stay here again if I needed the kids program. They have many activities for the children. You can leave a child in their care for 2 and a half hours for $5.00 anytime until 10:00 at night. They have Camp Chelsea, $25 for the day and cheaper for the second child, lunch and dinner included. $10.00 per half day. That alone is worth the stay if you need that service.

  • Liked — The children's activites, services etc...
  • Disliked — The room was not dirty, but it was rundown and small.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2007

I stayed at the Delta Chelsea for only one night - Thur June 5, 2007. Price was expensive but I needed a hotel for one night (I decided last minute to come to Toronto 1 day early). For the price I paid, the room was VERY small. I had read the reviews and noticed a few others had the same comment....room small for price paid.... they were correct and I agree. Rooms are too small for what you pay!

One problem we had with the bed was, when we tried to sit up to eat, we would rest our backs against the headboard/wall, and the bed would slide away from the wall....! Ridiculous! We had to prop the iron board up against the wheels of the bed and the other wall to stop it from rolling.

Bathroom sink - drain got stuck in "close" position so my boyfriend had to play "mr. fix it again" and try to unblock it....

Not impressed....!

Restaurant on site - Garden Market, I think that's the name was good.

Stayed here for 3 nights as part of a tour group, so better rooms will be available.
Our room in the blue tower (each tower has colour coded lifts) was quite small and a bit tired looking. No frills, and only a coffeee machine. Hotel is situated in a good location for restaurants and bars along Elm and Younge Streets, although you may be unlucky and experience some aggressive begging, especially in Elm.
Buffet style breakfast was ok, but there are several coffee shops nearby with better variety and much better coffee!
Did not sample what was on offer in the evenings, but was told by others that the food and service were fine, but again nothing too exciting......again Elm St was the winner here.
Overall; a decent location for exploring Toronto with average rooms, service and food.

I already submitted a review for this hotel, however, I have to add my appreciation for the staff, particularly housekeeping and security. After I arrived home from my trip, I realized I did not have my wallet with my credit cards in it. I called the hotel and got housekeeping who said they had found the wallet and gave it to security. I called security and was assured that they had the wallet locked up and arranged to have them send it to me by Fed Ex. I received the wallet the next week with nothing missing, so kudos to the staff for a job well done, honesty and integrity.
