We really loved staying here. Scott was very welcoming and gave us great advice about what to see and do in Toronto. The house is absolutely beautiful. Breakfast was amazing - best pancakes ever. The neighbourhood was great - some nice restaurants and bars around and a friendly atmosphere. We walked everywhere without problem. I doubt you can find anywhere else so well located and so comfortable at such a reasonable price!

We had a wonderful stay at the Banting Inn last December. Everything was perfect! Our room was beautiful. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable and warm. The decor in the house is beautiful. My favourite part of the day was going down to the kitchen for breakfast - Scott made the most beautiful breakfasts for us - pancakes, eggs and bacon were delicious but the french toast was my favourite. Scott is a wonderful host and has perfected the skill of always being available and ready to help, but never being intrusive or too 'in your face'. We were visiting for interviews and Scott really helped us out because we needed to get our suits pressed after packing them for our flight - and we couldn't find anywhere that would do them in a fast enough turnaround time. Scott insisted on doing them himself!! (And did a perfect job on them too!!). We really thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would (and will) definitely stay again. Highly recommended!
The historic aspect of the house is very interesting and it was great to hear about it from Scott over breakfast.
We stayed in the Banting room and it was lovely. Before we visited, I knew that there was a school next door. We heard children playing in the school yard in the morning but we didn't mind that and it wasn't very loud.
If you are hesitating - don't. It's good value, reasonably centrally-located (you can walk to downtown in a few minutes, the metro is just 5 minutes walk). Book it and enjoy a great trip :-)

We decided to stay here for a few days on our honeymoon from the great reviews on tripadvisor. We had a great stay with he highlight being the owner Scott. He has vast knowledge of Toronto and gave us great recommendations on where to go. We would've never found some of things like Guu Izakaya (a great Japanese restaurant) or fun food market (Loblaw's) without his great advice. The rooms were spotless and breakfast was delicious. We really felt at home and hope we can return and stay again.

I visited The Banting House Inn for the first time with two college friends over a weekend in May 2014, and I understand why the Inn is top rated.

First of all, the interior of the Inn itself is lovely and comfortable; special and interesting without being fussy or precious. Interesting art, a welcoming dining room stocked with light snacks 24/7, and a beautifully restored wooden staircase in a historic building.

We got to tour many of the rooms, as we were among the last checkouts of the weekend; each is unique but has in common immaculate cleanliness and thoughtful touches, very comfortable mattresses and ironed cotton bed linens.

Scott is just a terrific, funny, charismatic host -- he makes it easy to join his breakfast table for delicious made-to-order dishes. No chafing dishes with limp leftovers at BHI; you can have fresh fruit pancakes at 8am or 10am as you prefer.

Book early and often and you may even have a brush with fame. On the weekend I was there, the Inn was hosting an instrumentalist from a sold-out-arena-shows American rock band, and the recently elected mayor of an American midwestern city!

Five star experience.

I had a wonderful one night stay at this Inn and had a fantastic experience from booking all the way to departure. When I made the booking, Scott immediately confirmed my room and late arrival. The easiest way to get here from the airport, even arriving as I did at 1am, is to take the 192 Rocket bus to Kipling and take the subway to Sherbourne. From there its a quick 10 minute walk. The Inn is cozy big house. When I arrived the gate was open, the light on and an envelope with a note was waiting for me. My tastefully designed room was on the 3rd floor, the door open and the light on. Easy to find. The bathroom right down the was immaculately cleaned. I woke up the next morning to breakfast which was all you can eat fresh strawberry and blueberry pancakes that Scott made himself. Scott is a gracious host who really knows how to make you feel at home. We sat around at the big dining table talking to other guests and it was very nice. I would definitely stay here again. Its right downtown too so you can walk around as I did the next day before leaving.

This is our second stay at the Banting House Inn and once again it did not disappoint. The Banting House is a wonderful choice when staying in the Toronto area. It is very close to many attractions throughout the city. You can walk almost anywhere or the many forms of public transportation are very close by if need be. It is a gorgeous home with tons of charm and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. Scott, the owner and host is super nice and very helpful with any questions you have or arrangements you may need. He is also an excellent cook and prepares a delicious breakfast every morning. It is so much fun gathering at breakfast time and talking with the others guests who are staying at the Inn as well. After a long day of exploring the beautiful city of Toronto, returning back to The Banting House really feels like coming home. Next time we find ourselves traveling to Toronto, we will absolutely be booking our room at The Banting House.

I recently had the pleasure of staying here for 5 days during a conference in the city. Very quiet, comfortable, and great breakfast! It's a great old house with interesting history and a short walk to some great restaurants.
