My husband and I spent one week in this really nice hotel returning on 22nd October 2004. The room was very spacious with a fridge cooker microwave etc, and we had a lovely view of the CN tower and the city. The indoor pool was lovely with a sauna in the changing room. In the gym changing room there was a steam room, sauna and jacuzzi pool.

On the rooftop they had Californian hot tubs with a magnificent view of the city. Although it was cold outside the tubs were lovely and hot.

The complimentary breakfast had a good choice although it was repetetive throughout the week but this would not deter us from using the hotel again.

We decided to travel to and from the airport on the Express Shuttle Bus service and it stopped on Bond Street only 3 blocks from the Grand Hotel. Although the area was a wee bit seedy it did not bother us.

The location of the hotel was good as it was only a short distance from the Eaton Centre.

We are going to use this hotel again and would recomend it to friends.

We felt the hotel was value for money.

I recently stayed at the Grand with my young son and found it ok. It has its good and bad points, but for the money it was worth it. As for the neighbourhood, its not that bad. There are a lot of homeless people going about, but they are not threatening. Indeed coming back from an event at the Skydome, I saw more homeless people sleeping on Yonge Street, in the 'good' part of town. So, if your a bit worldly you should be able to cope with the area ok, but if your not then stay at the Four Seasons.

This is one of the worst hotels I have stayed in in Toronto. The staff are incredibly rude, there is no management on duty in the event something goes wrong and for the price, the rooms aren't that spectacular.

The neighbourhood is also incredibly scary and makes you feel uncomfrotable!

Avoid this hotel, it is incredibly amateur!

We stayed at The Grand Hotel in August 2004 for 2 nights. We had read a few reviews on tripadvisor and were slightly cautious about the area, however, the hotel was really great! The reception and bar staff were really friendly and the room was spacious, clean and extremely comfortable. We found the area fine - only 2 blocks from the eaton centre and about a 20 min walk to the waterfront - you can even see the waterfont and the CN tower from the rooftop! The swimming pool was lovely - we practically had it to ourselves - and the hot tubs on the roof top were an added bonus. The breakfasts were excellent too - great variety of food. The only slight, slight problem we had was that we ordered a wake up call for 5pm in the morning as we were leaving to catch an early bus to algonquin park (throughly recommended by the way!) and the call never came!! Luckily we had set our watch alarm so all was ok - but if I were you I would set that alarm just in case! As for the area - if in doubt, just get a cab - they're easy enough to come by.

My husband and I, and another couple were in Toronto this September for the Film Festival, and I chose the Grand Hotel based on reviews I read online. We were more than happy with the hotel.

It was beautiful, very clean and comfortable, with a fantastic rooftop sunning area. The brunch on the terrace restaurant in the morning was delightful (pick a table closer to the fountain, though, rather than by the street which is noisy). Our rooms (junior suites) were spacious and the beds extremely comfy. My sister-in-law had a massage and facial in the spa, which she said was great. The gym was very nicely equipped. As far as the area the hotel is in, which a few of the reviews mentioned, it's really not bad at all.

I would highly recommend the Grand Hotel to anyone, and plan on staying there again on our next visit to Toronto.

The hotel and its amenities are nice. However it doesn't matter how great the amenities are if the staff are rude and obnoxious. That's exactly what we got. The night clerk at the Grand was extremely rude and impatient and lacked the tact to speak to paying patrons. There was no management present to escalate the issues to. The staff communicated that no management is present during the weekends. How riducolous is that? I've stayed at many hotels in the Toronto area and there is always management present to escalate or discuss issues with. We will never stay at this hotel again.
