“Best N.American hotel ever visited!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2014

Upon arrival to the hotel, we were greeted by staff who allowed us to leave our bags with them, while we planned to visit the CN tower, before taking a cheap megabus trip (about £8GBP both ways (booked months in advance)) to Niagara Falls for a few hours. We were unsure on how to get to the CN tower from the hotel, and so were told by the hotel that they'd give us a lift- for free! Once dropping us off and having a day at Niagara Falls, we found our way back to the hotel to check in at 9:30pm that night. We received our bags and went upstairs, before wondering off to enjoy the little time we had in this beautiful hotel. We took the main lift up to the floor above us, before finding a mini lift (with a door-key only access) to take us to the roof. I expected just a couple of jacuzzi's, but in fact it was beautiful. The hotel has a large white screen up with loud speakers, playing 1980's music videos as you sit in the hot tubs or on deck chairs. After hanging around for a while, we had showers and went to bed. Best night sleep I had the whole time we had in the US/Canada, until we had to wake up at 2:30am for an early flight back to the US for the rest of our holiday. Gutted we couldnt stay longer in the hotel- especially for breakfast so I would absolutely love to visit once again. Thank you so much!!! (And to the other reviews- don't rate this hotel 1/5 if you were drunk and having parties with extra guests- I don't blame the hotel for kicking you out!!).

Room Tip: The higher the floor the better. Windows are silent anyway, but the best views are from a height.

Stayed at the Grand Hotel in Toronto in late July.

There is parking along the side of the hotel though at night parked in the hotel underground parking. The hotel is located in downtown Toronto, about a 10 minute walk from the Eaton Center, and Yonge Street. There are lots of bars and restaurants around, and the area was a lot less dodgy then I remembered years back in Toronto.

Check-in:

The lobby is quite very elegant, with the restaurant around the back. The staff was quite friendly and polite, and didn't take much more then a couple of minutes. The rate I had booked had free breakfast included.

Room:

The room I got was a suite, with a small living room at the entrance with a little kitchenette as well. The bed was comfy, the bathroom a bit dated, but with a shower and bathtub.

Overall:

I really liked the decor of the hotel, and the indoor pool downstairs is great. It is a really nice area to unwind and relax. Didn't manage to visit the rooftop pool but I heard it was nice as well.

The breakfast was very good, lots of selection and a nice ambiance to it. I would stay here again if I came to Toronto. With the pullout sofa in the room I had, it could easily sleep 4 if I was travelling with my kids.

Stayed here 3 days in July, with family so we appreciated being able to book a 2 bedroom suite, very spacious. Odd configuration in the "kitchenette" in that it had obviously had self catering possibilities in the past - cooker now removed. But large rooms, clean, good facilities. Hotel pool is fantastic, much bigger than the average, can really get some lengths. Rooftop terrace with whirlpools interesting, too windy when we were there to spend much time. Breakfast OK, not much variety I thought, and a bit crowded. Best aspect is the staff - friendly and knowledgeable, and the fact they provide a free car to where you want to go in the down town without having to book. It is a few blocks from downtown which might put some people off, but this is a really good way to overcome that and you get the benefit of the good value rates. We'd stay here again.

Room Tip: High floors have a great view

Dear MumTraveller,

Thank you for staying with us in July. We are pleased that you enjoyed your time with us. You are correct with regards to the kitchenettes. We use to have cook tops there but have removed them in the past years to ensure the safety of our guests. I will be sure to share your comments regards to the breakfast and the volume of guests in the restaurant with management.

We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back should your travels bring you to Toronto.

Warmest,

Greg

I have stayed at this hotel for world pride Toronto 2014 also for other prides and this hotel is so awesome from check in to check out. This place has a roof top hot tub with the best and i mean the best view of the Toronto city skyline ever. The best and coolest buffet you will ever have and the most comfortable beds and rooms i have ever slept in. Really cool vintage pool, like 1930's and the best staff from front of house to back. I have worked in this industry and see no flaws and you should treat your self to our city and this great hotel. Sorry but this breakfast buffet is the best my favorite you will agree have fun and enjoy.

Rooms were great, views from full room width windows is spectacular at night. The roof top seating s great and you can enjoy the hot tubs whatever the weather, Breakfast was good though a little disorganised and at time there were short waits to be seated. Staff were helpful and friendly. The only downside is the location if you want a choice of bars and restaurants on your doorstep this is not for you though it's only a 15 minuets walk to a plethora of bars and restaurants. The area is ok but not great with a few unsavoury characters about

We stayed here one night, on our stopover in Toronto. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean.

Breakfast in the morning was great - buffet style with a pretty good selection: Yogurts, cereals, oatmeal, various breads, lots of fruits, french toast, potatoes, bacon, eggs (hardboiled and scrambled), cheeses and cold cuts.

The Grand Hotel in Toronto, Ontario excels in all aspects of the hospitality business. The building itself is elegant; the rooms are so comfortable and clean; the breakfast has something for everyone; the Citrus Lounge has fine dining above and beyond expectations. What makes The
Grand so special is the staff. EVERYONE greets you and goes to any length to make your stay unforgettable. Two staff members have made our stays that much better - Lina in the Citrus Lounge ( so friendly, so professional, so meticulous about the fine details) and Karen at the Front Desk ( always smiling, always remembers your name, brings tea to your room if she learns that you are not feeling well). What more can I say? The Grand is THE place to stay. Did mention the two large hot tubs on the roof?
