“Lovely Hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

We loved this hotel! Only stayed for one night before we flew to New York. We booked a nice room anyway but when we arrived, we were upgraded. Our suite was huge and on two floors.

We had a drink in the bar and the service was fast and friendly. Breakfast was good and included in the price.
We used the swimming pool and jacuzzi which was lovely and we were the only ones in there which made it even more enjoyable. We also sat on the rooftop terrace which offers lovely views.

Would return.

We booked two rooms for one night on our way to a weekend in Niagara-Falls with a stop to visit Toronto for a couple of days. One adult (19) and three teenagers stayed in a king room (with a pull-out couch as the second bed) and slept comfortably. Admittedly a second night would have been a bit much on a pull-out couch, but it was a positive experience nonetheless. Room was very clean and very quiet considering we were downtown.

Staff was very friendly although when we called about information before our departure, the person we spoke to could not answer the simplest question on parking without assistance from a colleague. This also proved to be the case when we called again after our check-out, which is odd, because while we stayed there, they were quite helpful and pleasant.

The pool is amazing and the kids thoroughly enjoyed it.

The breakfast buffet included in the price of the room was terrific, and the patio setting was outstanding.

The only draw back is the "iffy" neighborhood you walk through to get to Yonge street. We were never concerned for our safety, but thought that it was odd to have such a nice hotel close to such a neighborhood.

Overall a very positive experience.

My daughter and I stayed at The Grand for 3 nights from June 28-30. We had a fabulous stay. The Grand offers free breakfast, on-site parking (affordable parking), kitchenette, indoor swimming pool, gym, roof top terrace, hot tubs and a magnificent roof top view! Our junior suite seemed newly renovated, with a small refrigerator and microwave, ideal for storing drinks and restaurant leftovers. We started each day enjoying a delicious warm, and free breakfast on their quiet terrace. Staff were very polite and helpful. Indoor pool is beautiful. We ended each day with a little time in the hot tubs enjoying the view! Location is fantastic, walking distance to the Eaton Centre, St. Lawrence Market and much more. Our only small complaint was finding ice. We never located an ice machine, which would have been convenient. Stayed at a few hotels in downtown Toronto, but this is by far our favorite! We highly recommend The Grand and we will definitely book again.

I am very fussy and it is hard for me to give 5 stars. We arrived at Reception expecting a Junior Suite and discovered that we had been upgraded to a larger suite. Gorgeous room with big very comfy bed, office area, living area with kitchenette and outside balcony. Breakfast was in the restaurant and so was a lovely place to start the day, the food was delicious and a real treat. There is a gift/snack shop in Reception. The roof top terrace is a fabulous place to sit and read in the sun or to take night time photos of Toronto. The vibe of the hotel is friendly and this hotel is doing everything right.

We recently stayed at The Grand hotel with our two kids for a short getaway. Stayed in a junior 2 bedroom suite and it was spacious enough and a good configuration for our family. Room was very nice, yet simple with nice wood flooring. The hotel has a great pool located on the lower level, and whirlpools on the roof. We were close enough to walk to the Eaton centre and st Lawrence market during the day, other attractions and the panasonic theatre were just a short drive away. Good option for those looking for luxury at a reasonable price and good for families.

My husband booked the Grand Hotel for our 9 year anniversary. He booked the hotel and dinner package and overall the hotel is very nice with a rooftop hot tub and pool on the second floor. All the rooms were equipped with a kitchenette with a sink, microwave and fridge. We had requested a crib as we had our 5 month old daughter with us. They put us on the 18th floor and brought us complementary chocolate dipped strawberries! We did have to remind them about our request for a crib and after the second time we had one brought up right away. Dinner at Citrus was very nice and service was great. The food was flavourful, simple, rustic and delicious.
My one only complaint would be during breakfast. My husband had an early business meeting and had an early breakfast leaving me to sleep in with my daughter. When I went down for breakfast (which was included with the hotel stay) it was seat yourself and people were just cutting in and grabbing tables with no regards to others. I had my baby in a stroller and it was hard for me to navigate in the small restaurant. The servers were too busy clearing tables and just walked right passed me several times. I waited patiently for 15 minutes and watched as four tables were taken right in front of me. I tried to speak to a server and all she could do was scan the restaurant and tell me all the tables were taken. I then asked to speak to the manager and when she came she apologized and did instruct a server to look for a table and tell anyone who tried to claim it that it was taken. She then just said breakfast is crazy busy and there`s not much she can do to stop people from just taking a table. I told her that there needs to be a system put into place. I eventually got a table and after that the service was good. I have been to hotels with complimentary breakfast and have never seen it like the way it was at this restaurant. There is usually a hostess that seats everyone. Overall the hotel and service were really great but the breakfast buffet seating arrangement was just plain frustrating,

We recently had the pleasure of spending 2 nights at The Grand Hotel & Suites in Toronto. From the moment we walked through the doors, we were made to feel welcome and the lady at the front desk who checked us in ( I think her name was Anastasia) was incredible. Our suite was lovely; we had a patio, we were next to the gym which also offerred saunas, the swimming pool was beautiful, and we thoroughly enjoyed the roof-top hot tubs, which gave a bird's eye view of Toronto Isand, with planes coming and going. Then there was the complimentary buffet breakfast, which like everything else at the Grand, was delicious. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
