“Great staff, beautiful rooms, great restaurant.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012 via mobile

Stayed here on a group buy deal. Was very nice, the staff is great and really took the time to take care of me. The location is slightly out of the way, but a short cab right takes you anywhere quick enough. The only issue I had was the parking lot.. its underground and extremely tight.. not exactly friendly territory for a pickup truck

Dear loki141,

I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. Underground parking does tend to be tricky with pick-up trucks as there is a height restriction. During your stay with us next time, please feel free to take advantage of the above ground parking which is located on the north side of the hotel. I feel this will be move convenient for you to maneuver! The great thing about living in the metropolis of Toronto is the generous amount of taxis which can quickly take you from point to point!

loki141, I look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the very near future.

Warmest,

Greg Egglesfield

“shady area but also convenient to shopping, cinema”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

This is a reasonably (for Toronto) priced hotel that has a nice exercise space and pool. The staff are generally friendly and, although there is no dedicated Concierge, the front desk staff do their best to provide useful information in a timely manner. It is, however, a bit of a gamble that they will have time and that their internet assisted knowledge will be useful. Forget getting hard to acquire tickets.

Similarly it is also a gamble trying to take advantage of their shuttle service. The shuttle service cannot be booked but if you see a black Cadallac SUV parked out front then you might be in luck. Enquire at the front desk.

Breakfast is a traditional hot breakfast with little allowance for vegetarians or vegan tastes. If you want soy milk to almond milk you may be disappointed. If you order a latte coffee then be prepared to pay between $5-7 for the privilege.

The roof top view is worth checking out. The views from the upper floors are almost worth the elevator hassles. The best poutine is just around the corner, but do not go out too late as the lines are longer and the crowds are shadier.

“Very impressed!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Stayed at the Grand from October 11 through the 13. Initial impressions: beautiful hotel lobby, lovely front desk staff and prompt check-in. Parking: underground but the navigation in the lot is very tight and the actual spots are VERY small. A shoe horn should be a required item after checking in! Room: Very clean, hardwood floors, marble bathroom, many other amenities. Free local calls, use of in-room safe, complimentary breakfast, etc. Dining Room: quite beautiful to look at and the food was better than expected. The swimming pool is really beautiful as well. I had the whole thing to myself when I went for a dip at 9:00pm one evening. Of course the rooftop patio, with hot tubs, etc. is a gem. What a great view! The location of the hotel is no doubt in a somewhat sketchy (but up and coming) area of downtown Toronto. My view was of a local strip joint! (don't ask for a north facing view if you prefer not to see it!) The staff were all accommodating and I had a very nice time all in all. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: North view (north/east) look down upon a strip joint. South (both east and west) are good choices w...

“When the restaurant matters”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

W've been in Toronto for a week end, both of us my husband and I were just exhausted so we did not fancy wondering out too much in search of food. So we had dinner at the hotel and it was lovely. Fish and meat both cocked perfectly, lovely appetizers, interesting menu. The suite we had was very spacious, ideal for a family , even too much space just for the two of us ... We get suites to have some more space but we normally get a sitting room and a bedroom, whereas that one was effectively a large two bedrooms flat. Nicely furnished, clean, tv in each room, great Landry service (they managed to get off red wine staines from my husbands suit, which was a relief considering that it was a tailored suit), and provided the service between Friday night and Saturday early afternoon. The gym is huge, absolutely enormous for a hotel, but many machines are not quite working and the type of machines were not much to my liking - ie the cross trainers are not very good. The pool and spa downstairs are very nice and again very lovely for kids if you go there as a family. Breakfast buffet : very very good and free, so go for it!
