“Terrible rude service, dirty room!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2009

We will never go back here! We have stayed here a few times before just for one night before we leave on vacation and this year was the last! They refused to honour our internet bought hotel and parking saying that we did not buy parking for the week even though we did. Wouldnt refund as its not thier problem (which ok maybe it was and when we phoned redtag got a very rude guy who wouldnt help) So they wanted us to pay 80 dollars to park for the week! Even though they sell it for 40 more than what we payed and cant give us that because it wouldnt be fair. They were extremly rude about it and made me cry (i am pregnant and when i get worked up it happens) We are not hard people to please at all but the way we were treated was bad. We then decided instead of giving them more money we'll park at park and fly. Couldnt get a refund on our room so had to stay. Its farther from the airport and for the price they want for parking and the night you might as well pick somewhere closer for the same.
Our room was dirty. The carpet was really clean but the bathroom was gross. There was a stain on my sheets.
We will never stay here ever again nor recommend it to anyone. They are so rude, even the manager and we really tried to be nice about it!

Because of the unprofessionalism of the staff and especially the sales manager, this was a total turn off to not stay at this hotel. The manager kept changing the price of the rooms and we felt like he did not want our business. So we took our business to the Holiday Inn where we were treated more professionally.

Used this hotel on January 16, 2009 for a one night stopover prior to a very early flight. Room, shuttle and 8 days parking was CAD $99 plus taxes for a total of CAD $112.

Staff: everyone was friendly and efficient - from Sunny at check in who arranged a wake up call and dashboard documentation for parking, to the cleaning lady who held the elevator door open for me, to the check out staff and night auditor who gave me a newspaper at 3 a.m., to the restaurant staff, to the shuttle driver.

Facilities: an upgraded room and bathroom that were spotless. The only small issue was a somewhat noisy heater that struggled successfully against minus 20 C temperatures outside.

Restaurant: welcoming with decent food at decent prices for an airport hotel.

Airport Shuttle: to manage a large volume of passengers with early morning flights, the hotel had a number of free taxis waiting in addition to the van service. On our return, the van was prompt and the operator courteous.

Anyone who expects 5 star accomodation would be advised to go elsewhere and pay triple the price. For us this was perfect.

We stayed at this hotel for a lay over. As most hotels, they require a deposit. I only had american cash and was informed by the night clerk that I would only be returned $110 canadian, approximately $10 less than fair exchange. As I had no other options, I asked that my $100 us be returned at my check out in lieu of the $110 canadian. She informed me that she would put a request but couldn't make any promise.
At my check out the next day, althought my $100 us was still in their pocession, the accountant wouldn't give me my us cash.
I know it's only $10 but why should I lose out on a security deposit
intended to be returned in full, nothwithstanding any incedentials.

Another point. The hotel advertises as being newly renovated. Althought the hotel was relatively clean, our room wasn't "newly renovated". The bedding was well worn and the room was extremely small.

The hotel is remotely located with no food services nearby. The hotel restaurant and bar are "dead" and overpriced. Brace yourself for the smoke smell in the elevator and don't assume you will get Internet connectivity. You won't. Very dated interior with a consistently uncaring and surly front desk. Avoid this place like the plague. There are plenty of options much more conveniently located near the airport.

Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in September. Checked in and everything seemed fine. Rooms were worn but spacious & public areas seemed basic but ok. The area was very quiet, nothing in walking distance but fine if you have a car. Our problem was that when we pulled back the bed clothes to get into bed on the 1st night we discovered that the sheets had not been changed after the previous guests, they were badly stained. We contacted reception & were told that someone would come and change them. About 20 mins later we got a phone call from reception to tell us to go down & collect a key for another room. This meant that we had to get dressed again, go down to reception, stand in line for reception for about 10 mins, then get a key, go back upstairs, pack all our stuff again & then move rooms (remember this was around midnight). We asked to speak to a manager and were told that there was no manager on duty but that they would inform the manager of the issue in the morning. The following morning, we asked to speak to a manager & again were told that there was none on duty and the girl did not know that we had a problem or that we had moved room. I asked for someone to contact us about the incident but we never saw a manager during our stay, I asked again on check-out to speak to a manager but again there was no-one available !!
I would not recomend this hotel as a clean bed is a very basic thing.

Bought this 3star hotel room on Hotwire for US$62 (incl taxes/fees). Drove to it and checked in at 1 am, so perhaps that's why my experience was better than others. I did see the old van they call an airport shuttle.

This Islington & 401 hotel, with14 floors, is easy to find even at night. Didn't seem to be anything you could walk to nearby.

Check in was prompt, attentive, and friendly. Staff give you a piece of paper that you must put on dashboard to avoid ticket/tow. Parking is free (rare for airport area) and generally well-lit.

There was another guest trying to convince front desk staff that since their dogs were hypo-allergenic, she should have a non-smoking room. Staff did not bend the rules.

Elevator smelled smokey, as did another floor when I got ice. Ice machine on some floors, snacks and $1.25 canned pop machine on some others.

Room had 2 double beds, table and two chairs, closet (with a hard-to-open door because of the carpet height) with iron & board and two collapsable/portable luggage racks. Four bin long dresser. TV was fine, but no tv checkout. Coffeemaker with Van Houtte coffee. Two generic but okay prints above the headboards. Window coverings - on a window that partly opened - were sheers and blackout drapes. Heat/air controlled by wall thermostat.

Items that were new in the room: bedspreads, drapery, muted wallpaper, telephone. Items modern - but not 'new' - included the room carpet and the bathroom tubsurround with curved rod. Light fixtures are old but adequate. No concerns with the beds.

Bathroom is adequate size. Counter space a bit limited. Towels just average quality.

No book in the room describing hotel services. I did see a room off the lobby with one computer. Noticed the restaurant sign. Didn't see the fitness.

I was surprised with the lack of traffic noise overnight, especially since it's next to the hwy. This is an average hotel, but much better than the Quality Inn Airport West (Ambler Dr, near Dixie & 401).
