“Two hotels for the price of one”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2012

We booked this hotel for two nights on business and found it to be a pleasant, clean place to stay, with friendly, professional desk staff. Our room had two queen beds which were very comfortable, and standard furnishings. We arrived late in the evening ,phoned the shuttle from the airport and waited only a few minutes for our five minute ride to the hotel. We had dinner at the on-site Greek restaurant which has very good food.
The hotel offers a small continental breakfast of coffee or tea and fresh muffins and pastries. We chose to add a breakfast voucher when we booked online, and ate breakfast next door at the Marriott Courtyard. There they have a full buffet breakfast including eggs cooked to order.
The Carlingview also gives free passes to the pool at the Marriott, which is a good size and includes a hot tub. The Saturday afternoon I swam there I had the entire place to myself. There is also a small gym attached with tread mills and a bowflex type machine.
The Carlingview lobby is warm and inviting with a natural gas fireplace. computer access and comfortable seating. I suppose because of the park and fly packages available, there were people in the lobby returning from or leaving for places like Costa Rica, Punta Cana and Mexico. This made for some interesting lobby conversations.
The biggest disadvantage to the hotel is the roar of airplanes passing close by overhead. However, we were pleased that on both nights of our stay, the planes stopped flying at approximately 11 P.M. and didn't start again until 6:30 A.M. or so.
We would definitely stay there again - especially at the price and with the amenities of the Marriott Courtyard , only a few steps away ,next door.

The sole redeeming point for this place is proximity to Toronto international airport, but at the end of the main runway. I exited the airport at midnight, phoned for the hotel shuttle & proceeded to wait 45 long minutes for a bus only 5 minutes away. Very small sign on bus identifies it for this hotel. Room was adequate. Breakfast in the lobby (never saw restaurant open) was tepid coffee and a hard cheese tea biscuit. (I went to the hotel next door instead). Place equal to a low level motel. Expensive for what you got

Booked their Winter Stopover Package, $99. Hotel allowed us a reverse package, i.e. park car for 7 days and then one night accommodation at end of trip.

First floor room had a king bed, sofabed and flatscreen tv. No fridge/microwave, but very comfortable for a one night stay and definitely worth the price we paid.

Would recommend hotel for its' value, location to airport and 24 hr. shuttle service to/from Pearson.

Room Tip: We were given a non-smoking room on the first floor, but be warned there are smoking rooms on first...

We used the Carlingview hotel for the fly park package. the rate was excellent. Our departure room with the flypark package was just over $100.00 plus tax and our return night was $79.00 plus tax. It included two weeks free parking and shuttle. They have renovated the rooms and they are quite large and comfortable. It is handy having the restaurant attached as once you park your car you do not have to travel for food. We ate breakfast at the airport as their breakfast bar is very limited. The shuttle service has improved as they use trans swift and they are readily available. We only waited 5 minutes. Make sure it has Carlingview on the side or ask the driver.

We have stayed at the Carlingview many times as a stopover hotel when flying out of Pearson. It's a small friendly hotel and gives you pool privileges at the Marriott property right next door. The parking lot for long term is very close at hand, and the shuttles go often to drop off or pick up. When returning from your flight they are just a phone call away and we've never waited more than 20 minutes for a pick up, unlike other hotels that we've heard people complaining about being very slow with picking them up. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the beds and pillows are great. Light continental breakfast starts at 3am!

For many of you, an airport hotel means an overnight stay, often awaking early in the morning to catch that 6am flight to somewhere. Well, for one night that was the case for my family and I, but for the 3 other nights (mid-vacation) it was our staging point for activities in the Toronto area.

I booked directly with the hotel, and there price was $2.50 less than all of the online booking sites! Thus do your homework! Check the hotel itself prior to booking through the mega online booking machines. Now, $2.50 is not much, but why spend it if you do not have to? Plus, you know that your booking is at the hotel...not in some computer bank on the other side of the world! LOL

We stayed in a clean and comfortable 3rd floor room overlooking the daily arrival of aircraft from around the world...a real novelty for my young daughter and "first time out of the country" mother in law. The beds were comfortable, the TV modern... with enough channels to keep the family tuned in. The shower provided endless hot water and the complimentary internet was fast and reliable. One thing that I noticed...more so as a guest for a few days...instead of hours...is that being a small hotel, you saw he same faces daily and ALL were polite and accommodating. This is unheard of in the ever increasing mega hotels dotting the landscape.

Every morning at 5 or 6am, fresh pastries were available in the lobby as was coffee and tea. I spent a good amount of time in the lobby and as a result, was able to observe the performance of the front desk staff. In 4 days I did not witness a commotion, nor remarks of disappointment. Luis, comes to mind as what I consider a competent and friendly front desk member, although all presented themselves in a professional, yet casual and friendly manner.

On our departure to the airport (shuttle was right on time), I stupidly left a bag on the shuttle bus. Of course, this was the bag I needed most and you can imagine my concern upon arriving back home in Punta Cana to find it missing.

An email to the hotel, as well as to some of my friends and family back home resulted in them finding my bag back at the Carlingview! A prompt email was sent from the hotel, which of course was greatly appreciated.

Location wise, it is a short 10 minute shuttle to the airport...walkable if you really wanted to! Arizona's is located just to the south of the Carlingview and offers a decent happy hour appetizer menu! Found ourselves there daily! As well, it is a great venue for watching your favourite game!

If you are looking for a reasonably priced airport or city hotel, I highly recommend the Carlingview. This opinion was made prior to the bag incident, thus the way that was handled simply reinforces what I had written!!!

Cheers

Room Tip: Even number rooms face south and a great place to watch arriving aircraft.
