Stayed for 2 night weekend. Parking was $42, I laughed out loud. Self-parking only $20 but you need to walk 5 blocks. Left my car in wrong lot as it was dark and got $40 parking ticket first night. Front desk was chilly at best - again no sense of humour. Room was very nice with view of harbour. No mini-bar, and fridge was luke warm at best. Toilet was turbo powered, don't flush while sitting or your butt will end up in Toronto sewer pipes. Ordered movie on TV - didn't work and took over an hour for someone to come to the room and agree with me that it didn't work. Didn't fix it, just agreed. Charged for movie the next day but removed when called.

Internet service was $12 a day. Outrageous in this day. Business services, wine glasses to room - seems I was reaching in my pocket for extra charges often.

Pool nice, hot tub was actually hot although the jets didn't work. Change room was a mess with dirty towels everywhere both days.

GREAT location! Close to everything although not walking distance. Cab driver tried to charge me an extra $10 because I "booked" a van. Quality liquor store across the road.
Nice walk along harbourfront. Saw Circle Du Soleil's "OVO" which was outstanding! HIghlight of trip.

Paid $122 US through Priceline which made overall experience palatable but could have been much better.

I stayed at the Westin for four nights for a conference. I've stayed at many Westin hotels and this one falls firmly in the middle of the pack. The things I liked about the hotel were: the heavenly bed, the maid was very friendly, the workout and pool facilities and check in and out was very efficient . There were some minor service issues such as: no newspaper on the first morning of visit--I called and it was delivered quickly, room service breakfast was delivered 15 minutes ahead of schedule--8:00am vs the requested 8:15-8:30 time slot and had the wrong juice, internet access is very expensive in the room and there is a charge for service in the business center, room amenities are less than impressive--stingy number of towels and sub-par toiletries, you have to request things like cotton swabs and a bathrobe and the ATM machine in the hotel seemed to be broken for my entire visit. Perhaps the biggest problem with this hotel is its location. While it is not far from the subway, it is also not across the street or a block or two away. You have to walk a few blocks and then under a freeway to get to Union Station which is the closest subway stop. While it is doable, there are other hotels in the same price point that are more centrally located.

I'd recommend this hotel mainly for its location. If you stay here, you have to stay in a room with a view of the lake. The rooms are large, but nothing really special.

We booked with priceline and thought we were getting an incredible deal, but once we got there, the extra charges just kept adding up. Mandatory valet parking, extra for a lakeview room, etc. We asked for some sugar and had to pay a $5 service charge for it!

Again I would recommend for the view, which is particularly worth it, if you are visiting/staying in downtown for the first time and have visitors, but be ready to pay for everything thats not included.

Location wise its right on the lake, close to the Harbourfront, but a considerable walk away from the main downtown area with the shops and restaurants.

Location of this hotel was ideal. We walked to the Air Canda Centre, Rogers Centre, Hockey Hall of Fame and downtown with no problems.
The room was updated with georgeous wood furniture, LCD tv, egyptian sheets, and a beautiful view of Lake Ontario in the South Tower.

Some downfalls we thought were:
-No Free interent, you had to pay a daily rate
-No Free Valet Parking it cost $40/day
-The waiters at the resturant are kind of snobby.

If you arrive at this hotel by airport bus, or by the train (several easy blocks to the north) you'll be confronted by several flights of stairs to get to the main lobby to check in. Unless you're arriving by auto, there seems to be no alternative to lugging your bags up these stairs. The bellmen have conveniently located themselves at the top.

The front desk staff are friendly and helpful. Check in was fast, efficient and pleasant.

Our room had a wonderful lake view with both a treat to sunrise and sunset. The view is probably the most compelling feature of this hotel. The room was also spacious and well equipped with the much appreciated heavenly beds. The housekeeping was excellent.

If you want Internet, you'll have to pay extra. If you want to use the computers in the business center, you'll also have to pay by the minute. There is no Starwood Club Lounge at this hotel, so if you'd like a breakfast buffet, you'll also have to pay C$20.00+ at the small restaurant off of the main lounge.

With the many excellent hotels in Toronto, I think the Westin Harbour Castle needs to work a little harder at providing value and winning preferred customer loyalty.

We booked a two night stay and were immediately disappointed upon arrival. The bellhops ignored us at valet (we struggled to get our suitcases through the door-it was clear they were servicing people based on their make of vehicle as the valets/bellhops were prompt with expensive luxury vehicles but ignored us with our Honda civic), the front desk was less than friendly, and the room, although furnished with more modern furniture, wasn't completely cleaned (hair and pieces of paper on the floor) . Surprisingly too, there were holes in the walls. When my husband went to buy breakfast he was stunned by grumpiness of the woman at the counter who was mad when he paid for a drink with a five dollar bill instead of change. With a nightly price of 249.00 (for city view) and almost 40.00 per night for valet parking, we really did expect good service and a clean room. Also, be aware too that the valet lot is often full. The only positives include the downtown location and the view itself (our room did have a partial view of the lake). Don't be swayed by the interior photos of the hotel..decoration alone can not make up for poor service. We've decided to never book here again- there are plenty of other hotels at this price point in downtown Toronto that we hope will be much better.

This Westin is just what you would expect from it's name. It's a beautiful hotel right on the water. Our room overlooked Lake Ontario and all of the activity in the area. The room was wonderful, the bed & pillows very comfortable, beautiful bathroom, and refridgerator in the room. The people were very professional and helpful, except the folks dealing with parking. They were unable to park our car, due to a full lot - so somewhat rudely directed us to a parking garage down the street. Now - our only complaint - the costs for parking and internet were crazy. Only valet parking is available at $40 per day...or you go to the outside lot ($20 per day). Internet access in our room was $21 per day - or $.025 per minute in the business center. Even using our calling card with a 1-800 number, there was an extra charge. All in all, however, it was a perfect location and absolutely beautiful hotel.
