“Good amenities but loud rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

For some reason, we could hear every sound coming from the adjoining room - so much so that I thought someone was in our room! Best to ask for a room that doesn't have the "adjoining room" capability as the sound may have been coming from through the door.

North facing room, because of the low rise building across the street and the setback of City Hall, gave a less crowded feeling of a usual downtown hotel. We didn't feel people could look in windows and had quite an expansive view. Facing north, we could see a weather beacon on the top of the Canada Life building (which we had to google to figure out what it meant! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada_Life_Building).

BNB was good for drinks. Lots of restaurants nearby for other choices. We had a lunch provided by the hotel catering. It was delicious - hot and flavorful.

You practically need GPS to figure out how to get to some of the meeting rooms.

My wife and I stayed here for a long weekend in June and really enjoyed the city of Toronto. The hotel location was perfect for walking all around the city - easy access to all of the areas of downtown Toronto. There are many great restaurants close by - most of them on on the more expensive side, but it is possible to find more reasonable prices within a 15 minute walk as well. Parking at the hotel is expensive per night, but there were a number of city garages within 2-4 blocks that saved us probably $40 over the 3 nights we were there.

The hotel also has some decent restaurants that you can get to without going outside - we enjoyed a lunch at Shopsy's which is just off the hotel lobby. Also very close to a mall in the area with lots of shopping choices.

I travel a lot and have stayed in many hotels, but have never seen a hotel with a nicer fitness center than this hotel. It was impressive - lots of space, workout machines, treadmills, free weights, etc.

We definitely would recommend this hotel and trip to Toronto!

Room Tip: Higher floors are quieter - there is a park on one side of the hotel that can be quite noisy if ther...

Was given a “cabana” room and really enjoyed my stay there. Had a patio door with a view of the interior fountain. The pool area on the 3rd floor is very nice - don’t feel at all in downtown Toronto. Room service was good, useful and quick but it takes a little of getting use to with the menu available on the TV screen only instead of on paper. This hotel is also very well located and close to every hot spot in town.

We just spent three nights here for business/pleasure and would definitely stay here again despite our one complaint. The positives: Although this is a very large hotel (over 1300 rooms), the staff provided friendly, helpful and personal service. The Club Lounge on the top floor has a spectacular view, and both morning breakfast and evening reception provided a delicious variety of foods that were continually replenished. The pool area was beautiful and well maintained. The guest rooms were comfortable and spacious, and our city-view room looked out over the old and new city halls and the CN Tower. As for the location...amazing!! Right in the middle of everything that we wanted to see, and safe to walk at any time of day.

The one negative was the issue of crowd control...there was a large convention while we were there, and the people attending tended to gather in large (very large) groups in the lobby and on the staircases, so that passing through was quite difficult. This alone would not have merited a complaint, but on Friday evening we all turned in for the night about midnight. At approximately 2:00 a.m., our hallway was filled with the raucous sounds of members of this convention. I was awakened from a deep sleep to doors slamming, voices shouting, laughter, and general loud noise. I assumed they were just returning to their rooms after a fun night out, but no, that was not the case. The noise continued for another 2 hours, until finally one of the group started knocking on our door. It took my husband 4 times telling the man outside (through our closed door) that he had the wrong room before he finally left. We did let the staff know in the morning what had happened, and they gave us extra Hilton points as an apology for the "inconvenience". I honestly am not sure what they could have done about this particular group, but I would check to be sure there were no conventions scheduled before I stay there again.

All said and done, however, the pros far outweighed the one con, and we will definitely return to this lovely hotel!

Room Tip: Request a room away from the elevators - they can run far into the night and be fairly noisy.

I booked this hotel to go see the blue jays Friday and Saturday. we were three adults.the staff was friendly and very efficient, the room looked recently renovated and was very clean.we booked the king room with a cot.i took the package with breakfast and it was worth the money.this gave us access to the 43 floor and with this we also got afternoon snacks from 5 to 8.this was also convenient for a light meal before we headed to the game.there were meatballs, hummus, fruit, veggies dips, coffee bottle water.at first i thought i had payed to much for the room but in the end i didn't have to buy breakfast or any lunches.the location was great we walked everywhere.the salt water pool was amazing we even swam in the rain because the pool was so warm. i do plan to stay at this hotel the next time i visit Toronto.

Room Tip: the room with free breakfast

First the Pros...... Very central to everything .

We upgraded to a mini suite which allowed us access to the top floor club. Included with this was a nice selection of hordurves , served between 5 and 8. Lovely staff and great views. Well worth the extra money. There was also a bar for those that wanted drinks.

Breakfast was served in the same room from 7 to 11. Nice selection of breads, cheese, fruit, jams, hard boiled eggs, and juice , coffee and tea. Lovely staff and very friendly.

Our room had nice linens and the bed was comfortable.

The pool was great.

Cons.....

Our room was situated near the elevators and sadly all night long we could hear the click and clang of it coming and going. Not so great when you have a 16 month old who has ears like hawk.

We pulled out the sofa bed for my 3 year old grand daughter to discover no bedding. The mattress was full of crumbs and the was a bandaid paper there. We had to call coster service which took forever to get through too to have someone come and clean it and bring linens.

We went to the Concierge desk to look at the local map and the girl working there could have cared less that we were there. We asked where we were on the map and told her we were going to the CBC building. She circled where we were and sat back down. Guess she didn't know where CBC was.........

Although the pros out waxed the cons, let's put it this way,, it wasn't the Fairmont.

Room Tip: One other thing. We got free wifi for the first evening. After that it was $17.00 per day. Can I you...

We traveled to Toronto for our 35th anniversary, and selected the Sheraton Centre because (1) it's on the PATH network; (2) it's across Queen Street West from Nathan Phillips Square (and the underground parking facility below it); (3) it's a short walk away from the AGO, the ROM, the new Ripley's Aquarium, and Eaton Centre; and (4) they have the largest indoor/outdoor swimming pool of ANY hotel in downtown Toronto. From the moment we arrived and checked in, we were treated like honored guests, and came to feel like every member of the staff was genuinely concerned about the quality of our stay. Flowers I requested were waiting for us in our room; the front desk staff opened the Business Centre for us so we could scan and fax an important document; the shower head in our bathroom was -- bar none -- the BEST we've ever experienced in a hotel; and on the evening before our departure, we returned to our room to find chocolate-dipped strawberries from the manager, which topped off an unforgettable 35th anniversary stay. We DEFINITELY plan on returning to the Sheraton Centre for our next visit to Toronto!

Room Tip: The even numbered rooms on the south side are quieter, and the views of the skyscrapers in Toronto...
