“great weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2014

Recently stayed here, had a great weekend, couldn't have asked for anything better. Easy to get to from Union Station, close to all events. We were upgraded and given a room on a top floor with a view of City Hall and skating rink.

Got a great deal on this hotel and the location was ideal. Close too all the major attractions in Toronto. Highly recommend this hotel if you are looking to do some shopping, see shows or experience the Toronto nightlife.

The Centre is a great location esp in winter where you can access the underground path from ACC to Eaton Centre very nice. The room was quite warm but the window did open so that was helpful to keep the heat down (-15C outside). Room was quiet and everything functioning. I was shocked however when I made 2 local calls and received a folio for $4.52 (yes it was published in a brochure on the desk) - really this is so incredibly petty - I thought the $16 for WiFi was nuts but come on Sheraton - this is really short sighted. I'm a member of Starwood Preferred which is normally the ticket to free wifi and local calls but not in this case.
I didn't use the pool or gym which apparently is nice. Based on the location I would stay again but I hope they are able to how cheesed off you can make someone for $4.52 - I'm sure I could have asked at the front desk to be credited but why would I waste my time. Your loss Sheraton.

Room Tip: Ask for the north tower facing north you will have a great view of City Hall.

I was in Toronto on business for a week, stayed at the Sheraton Center. At first everything was just OK. However on day 2 I had plumbing issues in my room. It was explained to me that there were major renovations in progress, & they will try to make things right. At no point did the manager offer to switch rooms. Did I mention that I am a Starwood Gold member. During one night there were 2 people in my bathroom, trying to get the toilet fixed until 11:45pm. Upon check out after a week of hell, the manager did decide to reverse my internet charges. Wow, what modern day hotel charges for internet anymore? My advise is give this hotel a pass.

Very nice hotel, heart of the downtown, did not have a chance to go around much as i was here for a meeting and a very busy schedule but easy access from the airport, a shuttle directly brings you here to the hotel, takes about one hour though. Hotel was clean, nice staff, specious room, wifi worked very well, very helpful concierge, booked a very nice Niagara falls tour for me, which i really enjoyed.

check-in was speedy and efficient; rooms are spacious - heating systems in rooms very old and outdated; had a beautiful view of Toronto city hall but the window was covered on the inside with an inch of frost so couldn't see out - what a shame - but normally it would be beautiful
hotel restaurants are expensive but that comes with the territory
hotel has 2 towers and it if a very long walk to the elevators which could be an issue for some travellers

Room Tip: do request city view over city hall and nathan philips square

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your kind comments. Our hotel is also excellent for leisure visits as we have a superbe location in the heart of the city and we are connected to PATH, a 16 km underground walkway connecting the best sights downtown has to offer.

The Sheraton in-room TV channel at this hotel proudly speaks to a 6 billion dollar renovation commitment. Sad to note that if you walk out of their carport lobby and turn right you will find the building under some type of construction scaffolding. Here you will walk into staff clearly wearing name badges smoking out in public view. They even smile at you obviously thinking that this is acceptable. Across the road is where you will find Toronto's now famous City Hall where the legendary Mayor Rob Ford works.

When I checked in via Limo the doorman does not get your door or welcome you. Instead the choose to snatch your bags and walks them inside. Methinks this is due to a union staff mentality because I double checked and watched this happen to others arriving. Whatever happened to the notion of a great first impression?

Currently there is a huge retail pharmacist conference in town where delegates are staying at many of the larger branded Toronto's downtown hotels. Their conference slogan is 'Game Changer'. Maybe the GM of this hotel can observe that all of the reviews I checked good and bad here at this hotel have no management responses. Also it might be appropriate to take a walk around the hotel to find these staff members smoking where the public can read their name badges. How about finding them a place in the receiving area or in a non public area to smoke?
As for the 6 million dollar renovation commitment I stayed in a Club floor room and was surprised to find that at the back of the toilet the bolt down cover on the right side was missing.
