This famous landmark Toronto hotel was completely restored a few years ago to retain its turn of the 20th century opulance and style. The lobbey is impressive and the rooms large with huge marble bathrooms. Although we were told all double rooms with 2 single beds were booked on arrival the clerk happily up-graded us to a huge room with twin Queen beds and no less than 2 walk-in closets and a huge marble bathroom ..and all despite getting a very low rate for a standard room The parking is expensive but on a weekend it is free nearby on the street so we found parking half a block away from the hotel. The King Edward is very central and a 15 minute walk to the CN Tower as well as the waterfront ferries to the island, with the excellent and clean Toronto subway entrance right outside the door. The staff were pleasant and very helpful and the doorman great.
