“Nice historic gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014

A lovely property in a great location with restaurants and attractions within walking distance / on transit line. Beautiful historic architecture. The rooms are a bit dated: was told they are going through renovations, with updates working their way up from the ground floor. Found breakfast to be a bit pricey ($70 CAD) for two. Bar is excellent, with intimate seating and a large selection (didn't try the $350 cocktail). Perfect service by all staff.

The location was perfect to experience restaurants, night, life as well as shopping. We never took a cab and enjoyed walking and seeing the town. The hotel is one of Toronto's first hotels so another Trip Advisor review warned me that some of the rooms are quite dated so very imperative to upgrade to the Premium rooms. The upgrade was $18 and worth every penny to receive a large remodeled room that was quite luxurious , beautiful with two queen beds and a bathroom that was separated into two rooms. We took advantage of the complimentary morning coffee brought up to our room in the morning as well as a shoe shine for being Omni members. Our beds were so comfortable that we could barely get out of them in the morning. It was difficult to find a hotel with two queen beds instead of standard doubles. We used a Travelzoo voucher that made the room an even greater value.

Room Tip: Absolutely choose a Premium room as they have been updated and are big and beautiful. As an omni me...

The King Edward is gorgeous and perfectly located. The staff is remarkable, friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that the furnishings are dated. Were it not for the dated furnishings, this would be a 5 star experience.

I have been an SPG member for a long time, after bearing through the poor customer serivce and dilapidated properties in Toronto, I switched to the Omni. I have been so pleased by the property and the customer service I am a convert to the Omni! Big shout out to Young-mi! Thank you for the wonderful customer service, you made me feel at home even though I was traveling internationally!

Spacy and clean room, very kind front desk, in a quite comfortable location, ideal stay for business purposes in Toronto. The lobby is impressive. Luck of room refrigirator and inroom snacks. Very interesting rates for the period i was staying and certainly i will come back on my next stay.

Horrible workspace, limited power outlets, unusable wireless internet, no place to hang my suit, and miscellaneous hair plastered to shower wall. I do appreciate the complimentary umbrella for facing the rain.

Dear Adam P,

Thank you for your feedback. I sincerely apologize for your experience and wish to advise that the hotel is now undergoing renovation in phases. Guest rooms are being updated with the aim to enhance the comfort of our guests.

I am also sorry if the location of the closet was unclear. All guest rooms are equipped with a closet to hang one's clothes, usually located across from the bathroom. Had it been brought to our attention we would have gladly directed you to its location.

I hope you return to allow us the opportunity to provide you with an experience more typical of the Omni King Edward.

We chose this hotel because it was within walking distance to Princess of Wales theatre and Yonge St. The hotel itself has a lot of history, the rooms were a good size, the beds comfortable and the staff very helpful. What threw me off was parking. To park at Omni is expensive. To park in a lot near Omni is cheaper but not in the safest feeling location. The restaurant / bar area is also quite over priced. It is clear they cater to higher end guests. I would recommend this hotel based on it's location and comfort.
