“Just OK...needs an upgrade”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

This hotel was just about OK. I think you could probably do a bit better in Toronto for the same price. Rooms, lobby etc could definitely do with some investment - a very stale feeling to the whole place. The parking garage was full when we arrived so we had to park in the garage across the street. Probably wouldn't stay here again if it could be avoided.

This hotel is priced much lower than the usual downtown hotels in Toronto. We stayed on the seventh floor and had decent views from our room and from the huge windows by the elevators.
Pros: super comfy beds, big room, LOCATION, Starbucks across the street, nice breakfast place across the street, subway through the parking garage across the road
Cons: some housekeeping issues, found toys from previous guests, underground parking is tiny and moist (yuck)
We stayed 3 nights, parked across the street the first night because they didn't have any onsight parking but were able to move into the underground parking for the next two nights.
Every morning we noticed the ladies cleaning the lobby....this makes no sense to me...why are they vacuuming and shampooing carpets at the busiest time in the lobby...guests are tripping over a vacuum on their way out??
Also I don't think they have a service elevator so we were often sharing an elevator with workers with huge bags of garbage.
Also there was never any hot coffee in the lobby...they always said 'oh we haven't made a fresh pot yet'
It wouldn't take much to make this hotel top rated....it's the little things like fresh coffee and let visible lobby cleaning that would help.
If you are looking for downtown hotel for a good nights sleep in a comfy bed for an affordable price this is the spot.

Room Tip: We asked for a quiet room with a view and were quite happy on the 7th floor.

I am a ChoicePrivileges Diamond member, and I have stayed in this hotel before. It has signficantly gone downhill in terms of room quality and service standards. I had room 201 which is a King suite overlooking the sideyard of the Sanctuary, a downtown ministry, and which is used by a half-dozen or so drug addicts as their own 'bedroom' and 'living room'. Yes, it has a great location if you want to be downtown. No free breakfast though, which is very odd; the attached restaurant is Japanese. We were there 2 nights are rarely saw anyone at the front desk, which speaks volumes about the lack of security. Someone pounded on our door at 12:30 am. Parking garage is tiny; you have to call into the hotel from a phone box at the entrance in order to get in. Room was very, very tired; the floor "crunched" under the carpet. Wireless internet was good. Bed was comfortable. We could watch the drug addicts all night instead of TV if we were so inclined. I will never, never, never stay here again. There are many choices available to the travelling public, and there is no reason to accept a 3rd rate hotel charging top dollar; the Hilton would have been cheaper - and much better.

I was in Toronto last march, and chosed Comfort Inn Downtown mainly because of its location and price.
I had a very pleasant surprise at the arrival, even if travelling alone I've been assigned a very spacious and clean double queen bed room, quiet and bright. Room facilities include a coffe maker, a play station, a nice walk-in closet with ironing and safe, but there isn't a fridge nor mini-bar. Reception staff were a bit cold and not specially friendly, but professional anyway. Hotel position is fantastic, two steps from Yonge Street, University area and Royal Ontario Museum. Just avoid the breakfast (it was included in my rate), that's served inside the asian restaurant nearby: bad coffe and a strange flavoured tea, a couple of croissant, but no fruits, no juices or yoghurts, nothing fresh for health food lovers.

I booked this online so I could accumulate Choice points towards future stays. Hassle free and so quick and easy to check-in upon arrival. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Hotel is just off Yonge Street, less than a five minute walk to the Bloor Subway station. So convenient. We took the subway to the Air Canada Centre - entire trip took about 15 minutes - no worries about traffic!

Their parking garage was full so stayed in the private garage across the street - no problem. Parking there cost $30 for 1 night. Must expect to pay though as downtown Toronto so no real surprise.

Room on 2nd floor was larger than I expected for downtown. King bed with new large screen tv. Movies and free high-speed internet available. Recently renovated. Overall, a perfect stay.

Ate dinner at the on-site Japanese restaurant - Masa. Excellent. Will review separately.

Room Tip: Room at the end of the hall was nice and quiet.

We booked this hotel because it had a great location and "the best rate" for our 7 night stay ( special rate available when we booked)! We also needed a subway near the hotel since we would use the airport shuttle bus and subway to get to the hotel; the hotel was only 2 blocks away from a station! We booked the Queen Bed Suite a few weeks in advance because for the summer celebrations in Toronto many of the hotels get booked weeks before the events (especially Pride Weekend). The room, or I'd dare say "mini apartment" came with more space than expected! It was very spacious and even had 2 closets to store away our luggage and clothes, very comfortable indeed! It has a complete kitchenette with mini fridge, microwave oven and even a dinner table! There is a desk in the living room and free wifi for those with their laptops! The bed was very comfy and I slept well each night (better than on my own bed)! The room service was excellent and we always had fresh towels each day and new bags of coffee in the kitchenette! Our room was on the 9th floor and we never had water pressure problems until that Sunday when the pipes went dry that morning. It wasn't really an issue because we had already awoke an hour before and where about to hit the streets. I called reception to enquire about it but they never aswered the phone! When we arrived back to the room that afternoon the issue was fixed. Still, it wasn't an issue to spoil our vacation or get upset with the hotel. The decor was simple, traditional and in good condition. Elevators were working properly and the Chinese Restaurant close to the elevators serves a delicious full breakfast for about $11.00. Our days here were great and we will consider this hotel again for other years to come as long as the rates are better than the other hotel rates close by!

Room Tip: Kitchenettes are available only in the suites. Corner suites have windows facing different streets!

Located in the heart of Downtown Toronto, this hotel has comfortable and very clean rooms. Altough mine had not been recently renovated, its condition was more than acceptable and it showed no sign of wear. The wi-fi signal was strong and dependable. The breakfast items were basic (toast, croissants, orange juice and coffee) and cost $5. The hotel staff was polite and efficient.

Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay. I recommend that you book in advance if possible, as the rates can get as low as $ 130 / night, which is hard to beat when considering comparable hotels in downtown Toronto.
