4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2008

The service made staying at this hotel a good experience. However, I agree with other travellers that this shouldn't be a 4 star hotel.

The room was clean and welcoming, but it was the little things that I noticed. When attempting to open a curtain, I found out that the rod wasn't even attached. The decorative piece in the bathroom faucet wasn't attached either, and the toilet had trouble flushing down toilet paper.

However, the bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable. The televisions (2!) were large flatscreens. There was a large counter space in the dressing room which allowed me to spread out my makeup when getting ready to go out. The curtains blocked out light completely.

I also have to note though, that it was not soundproof. Other occupants starting showers in other rooms woke me up while sleeping due to the loud noises. We could hear televisions and laughter through the walls and ceiling. The noise from outside wasn't incredibly loud though, despite only being a few floors up and directly above the entrance.

I can't say enough about the staff, though. They were incredibly helpful and welcoming, and always smiling. It made me relax as soon as I stepped through the door. It's the staff that made this an above-average stay.

  • Liked — The comfort, and the staff.
  • Disliked — The noise from other rooms

Stayed here on business

Rooms: Really good size. En-suite bathroom and small living room (can easily fit a friend on the couch!). Not the most modern of styles, however, size is really good.

Service: Decent - as you would expect really.

Food: Ate a couple of times at restaurant. Decent, but nothing to write home about. Lobby bar is fairly intimate and worth a drink. Breakfast was average.

Location: Good - within walking distance to all the main downtown offices and the shopping centers.

Facilities: Wifi in the rooms I think. Didn't use gym, etc...

  • Liked — Good sized rooms

I booked this hotel after reading the reviews and knowing it score #5 hotel in Toronto and I must say it deserve the high ratings, large rooms with kitchen, free sauna and gym on the top and great location, just 10 min walk to union Station and CN tower. Don't expect to view the skyline as the hotel is not very tall and it's surrounded by offices.

I stayed at the Cambridge Suites for a conference downtown and was pleasantly surprised. I found it to be clean, spacious, and the service was quite friendly/helpful.

Also, the room (19th floor) was EXTREMELY quiet. I never heard any noise from the hallway or adjacent rooms, nor did I hear any from the street below.

The beds are quite comfortable as well. The mattress seemed to be higher in quality and firmer than typical hotel mattresses.

I really recommend this hotel highly. I'm used to staying in the Ritz and Four Seasons chains and am a bit fussy about hotels, but I really have no faults I could point out with this hotel.

Found this hotel through trip advisor and I have to say it lived up to the hype. Great location downtown, only a couple of blocks from the main shopping area and restaurants. Massive rooms or suites rather. Very comfy beds, large bathrooms and 2 TVs in each suite! Even the kitchenette was cute even though we didn't really use it.

There is also a car park there, the charge is around $20 per day. Anyway, highly recommended. Would def stay here again.

my husband & I spent this past weekend in Toronto & stayed at the Cambridge Suites for 2 nights. it's definitely a good location - on Richmond btwn Yonge & Church..we were able to walk everywhere we went. about a 20 min walk to the Bloor shopping area, 15 mins to the CN tower or entertainment dist. we felt very safe walking around at night after dinner.

the staff was extremely nice & helpful. they gave us simple, accurate directions to anywhere we needed & offered great recommendations for restaurants. the conceirge also gave us numerous amazing recommendations for dinner & nightlife.
we ate at Terroni and Fuzion - both highly recommended..great environments, delectable cuisine..Fuzion is swanky and offers a menu with the not-so-usual fare. Rex Hotel is great for live jazz.

our suite was great -- spacious, clean & comfortable. the bathroom itself is a little snug (does have a huge vanity area) but hopefully you're not in Toronto to spend too much time in the shower, etc. fitness room was mediocre - but it did the job. there's a nice hot tub & sauna for those interested.

all in all, would definitely recommend this property & consider staying there again!

I booked this hotel solely on the reviews on this site. I was not disappointed and we loved the whole suite thing for the price of a ( very good) city hotel room.

Pleasant arrival with genuinely friendly staff throughout - a good vibe. The suite was lovely and spotless and great fun if you want to play hide & seek with your partner. The room has a proper suite feel with plenty of complimentaries refreshed regularly. Only criticism of the room is that it looks a teeny-weeny bit dated in comparison to many new hotels - but it didn't spoil our stay.

If you think you're going to get proper five star luxury, this place could possibly disappoint, but if you get a deal on a cityscape room as I did (with a few extras & breakfast), this place will compliment your visit to the city and give you a hotel stay to remember.
