“Best B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

We stay there two nigths in August 2012. The room was clean and cozy. The madam renting the house was very polite, she has a lovely cat. Continental breakfast was delicious, we would stay there again! It seems like home!!!

Lorenzo and Giulia - thank you so much - I was so delighted that someone living in the beautiful
Tuscan countryside would enjoy to stay with us! Ciao

Sometimes it's best to wait a few days before you write a review as it adds perspective to your journey. While it is easy to set an impossibly high standard for yourself it's a good idea to stand back and compare what is on offer.
We booked Cabbageville, with exclusive use of private bathroom ( it's cheaper to share bathroom if you book Provence) as we were planning on travelling with friends. A change of plans meant we met up with them in Ottawa - why all this info??? You may prefer to book an ensuite room (yes, we peeped at the vacant room) at the front of the house.
The area is very quiet so this would be fine. Parking can be arranged.
Breakfasts are lovely fresh breads, cheese, ham & crumpets for toasting plus cereals, fruit, fruit juice and espresso coffee (coffee/tea/hot chocolate available at all times). While I love a great cooked breakfast it is not a good look after 4 weeks ....
The hostess is great - very helpful and friendly. The House is in a quaint historic area well worth a few hours exploration - an oasis in a v.busy city.
Our room was small but v.well equipped - with fridge - great for wine (and water, of course...)
The adjacent bathroom was well appointed and in keeping wth an historic house and for an extra price it can be private - the other adjacent bedroom remains unoccupied during your stay.
So 5 out of 5 it is...I have no hesitation recommending Cabbageville.

Room Tip: I suggest front of house room with ensuite it is larger . But it is not a big issue - just a suggest...

Thank you Stephanie and Len - I so enjoyed your stories and am sure I learnt a lot from them!
Since your stay, I have done a small alteration to your bedroom, incorporating the passage into the bedroom, and it makes a great difference - I am very excited about it. You will have to take my word for it, because living the other side of the world, I do not think you will be visiting any time soon:))
All the best.

Cabbagetown is a delightful, pretty neighborhood just a block off a bustling, lively neighborhood. This home of proprietor Gailo (and her family) is charmingly and lovingly appointed. Breakfast is very nice, with offerings of cheeses, fresh bread, jam, juice, cereal and coffee is available at any time.
Gailo will sit and chat with you if you like, but is discreet if you prefer privacy.
The bed was comfortable and since I shared the bath with my traveling companion, it was OK.
The rooms have small fridges with complementary water and Coke.
My friend and I enjoyed our all too short stay.

We enjoyed staying in Cabbageville. It's a peaceful area in walking distance to lots of downtown spots (maybe a long walk for some places). The B&B was a comfortable place to stay, breakfast was good and the owner is nice. We'd stay here again on a future visit to Toronto.

A lovely bijou B& B in an historic part of Toronto.
Gailio is an excellent hostess & goes out of her way to help in any way she can.

Breakfast comprises cereal, cold meats, cheeses, fresh bread etc.
Parking overnight can be a problem in this area so I would advise booking the parking spot (10$CAD per day) if you bring a car.
My personal opinion is that you can probably get by without a car in Toronto which has an integrated trolley bus, bus & metro sysyem. Provided you are going in one direction you can get a transfer ticket which allows you to continue your journey without having to pay again.

Room Tip: If you have the choice then opt for the ensuite room . It is really nice. The other two rooms share...

Great B and B in a lovely neighbourhood. Gailo delivers outstanding hospitality. Rooms are very comfortable and major attractions are nearby. Excellent restaurants just around the corner. As frequent travelers we highly recommend it.

Very pleasant B&B in a great location. The proprietor, Gailo Borland, is an extremely interesting person. She's also very helpful and friendly, but also tactful enough to leave you alone if that is your preference. Queer people and those who love them will feel especially welcome, as you can tell from the way Gailo decorated her staircase (see my photo).
