“A Fair Deal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

Good quality accommodations for the price. Preferred place to stay when in Toronto, even compared to Royal York Hotel. Most rooms are comfortable and offer up-to-date decor. Older rooms are still welcoming and provide good value for the dollar. Staff are always friendly. The four guest elevators were renovated a couple of years ago. Outdoor pool is small, but clean. Workout Room is small but adequate for a light routine.

The location (on Carlton/College just a few blocks east of Yonge Street) is good. Easy walking distance to everything downtown.
The room was spacious and clean. The beds were nice.
Our check-in was not very friendly; while we had most our questions answered, it was definitely not service with a smile - and the attitude was less than caring. The staff was also not that helpful in regard to parking options.
The indoor parking will always be full even if it states that it is for hotel guests only and you will be asked to park in the lot next door. That lot is situated on the other side of an abandoned house where homeless people reside at night.

A well-known hotel site chose the Best Western Primrose after comparing it to higher rated well-known chains. The actual room we were given was a far cry from the website photo but appeared clean. The area is not exactly Queens Quay however there is a nice park on Jarvis and the street car stops right outside the door. The indoor parking will always be full even if it states that it is for hotel guests only and you will be asked to park in the lot next door. That lot is situated on the other side of an abandoned house where homeless people reside at night. Although other reviews I read state this to be a concern, we did not experience any problems. Yes, from time to time, you will be solicited for money but I get that in my own city all the time. The reception staff were polite and the concierge was helpful. Surprisingly enough there is a small outdoor pool that helped beat the heat in the heart of a big city on a hot summer day. The gym was a reasonable size, clean and with all the right equipment. Our room was next to an elevator however we heard no noise and the bed was very comfortable. The air conditioner was very noisy and the elevators do need an overhaul. The room had a kitchenette with a small fridge, microwave and cook top but no dishes or utensils. Accessible and affordable.

The location on Carlton/College just a few blocks east of Yonge Street puts you in the heart of the city. Easy walking distance to everything downtown. My meetings were at the Toronto Convention Centre, awesome morning walk to University Avenue and stright south, 30 minutes. The Loblaws in the old Maple Leaf Gardens offers great quality deli food at very reasonable proices, nice and handy,

This hotel customer service is the worst I have seen in years. They do not care for the well being of there guests. The hotel elevator stopped mid way between floors and my friends and I had to weasel our ways through to get out. The manager was very disappointing to say the lest. He asked if we were jumping which was very insulting. Very inconsiderate. All together will NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER stay at a best western at all and NEVER will recommend this hotel to anyone in there right mind.

Very Unsettling and Upset

This hotel is very hard to get in with a wheel chair. No rails in washrooms. Cant fit wheel chair in washroom. Have to go to lobby and use washroom there with no hand rails. Couldn't park. Had to park next door and walk to hotel pushing wheel chair and trying to get the luggage in.

The room was filthy, I was afraid to touch anything. There was a wet spot on the bed. The air conditioner and the bathroom fan were so noisy. The TV reception was very snowy. This is not a four star hotel! Do not stay here.
