“Classy, cozy, convenient”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2009

Comfy beds, nice room...not much space but I would stay here again if price was right. Concierges weren't very knowledgeable so do your homework in advance...don't rely on them for help. Our cleaning woman was super friendly and kept our room just right.

I loved my stay here with some friends of mine. We were greeted by very friendly staff at the front desk. I had the Park Suite King bed and it was very spacious, bright, cozy and super clean. The hotel had great amenities and the Annona restaurant in this hotel had amazing food.

I stay downtown quite often, and like to try new places. The Hyatt had great rates so I booked 3 nights. If I hadn't prepaid I would have checked out after 1 night and gone elsewhere. The first room we were given had mold and mildew in the bathroom shower. The second room was cleaner but the shower had no water pressure-something we didn't know until we needed a shower! The carpets and elevators are filthy, and the people at the front desk, particularly the russian woman, are ice cold. The hotel is a cheap reno with no character. I'm not sure why they decided to go with a red plastic for an accent colour but the whole place looks like a tacky place trying to be hip. The elevators are not at capacity so you can expect to wait every single time.
Another irritating thing is the high-tech check-in. To save yourself from standing in line, you can check in at a kiosk in the lobby. But because I needed parking, after I checked in at the kiosk I then was directed to get in line at the front desk. So my check-in was actually longer and less efficient!
The only good thing about this place is the location. Thankfully there are other hotels in the area that are clean and classy.

My BF and another couple recently stayed at the Hyatt and had a wonderful stay. We had a room with a view and upon checking-in we noticed that our room did not have the best of views and asked to switch rooms which they immediately did. Our next room was wonderful, great views. Hotel is located in the Entertainment District, 5 minute walk to Rogers Centre and CN Tower. Really great location. Room service was nice. And staff was VERY pleasant throughout entire stay. Little hotel gift shop was a great place to pick up late night snacks as well. Overall, we were all very pleased and had a wonderful time.

I stayed here in June during the first 4 days of my 12 day trip to Canada. After seeing a special on hotels.com, I booked a King room for 50GBP per night, and was unsure what to expect as had read on here that it was in the process of being re-furbished. First of all, the airport shuttle bus stops pretty much outside the hotel (it is shown on the shuttle map as one of the stops - note, still listed as Holiday Inn on King on these publications). The hotel entrance was a tiny bit tricky to find but is basically right next to the Starbucks.

On entering the hotel it was lovely and spacious and clean, I was greeted enthusiastically, everything was in order from my Hotels.com booking, and the gentleman on reception provided me with everything possible to make me welcome, including maps, tourist specials, etc. He even looked up the venue I needed to get to that night online and printed me a map out.

My room was gorgeous, I had a view of the CN Tower, which was great at night (the views are obviously very much 'city' views - do not expect river views!), my bed was massive and incredibly comfortable, there was a large LG flatscreen TV, the shower was pristine and huge, the room was very quiet and there was plenty of room including a large wardrobe for clothes. Note - there was a mini coffee machine but no kettle, so do not expect to have tea in your room or store any food in there as there is no fridge.

I ordered room service breakfast and also two dinners during my four days, food was great quality, relatively inexpensive (compared to London!), and the pancakes as well as the oatmeal was delicious, delivered quickly, and the service was really friendly. The hotel has a shop near the lift in the foyer that sells stamps, icecream, chocolate etc, useful if you cannot be bothered to go outside but need a snack. The Starbucks can also be accessed from within the hotel which is convenient. Housekeeping was efficient and my room was left spotless each day. I also used the gym, which contained everything needed with big glass windows to make it feel open. There was a pool but I didn't use it.

In terms of location, the hotel is close enough in that you can walk to Yonge st in around 10 minutes, 20 minutes to the Greyhound bus depot (for a day at Niagara) and also easy enough to get back to during the day if you forget something or need an afternoon nap.

All in all I would highly recommend it - it was an unexpected gem and I'd love to go back there sometime. Great for a first time visitor to Toronto!

Other reviews had me worried..."not hyatt quality" Well, this is an ok hotel, but if you get a rate you think is good, know that this hotel will charge you $25 per night for parking, $15 per night for slow wireless internet access, $4 for a small bottle of water, etc, etc, etc, ... Get an ethernet cable when you check in, the wireless network is snail slow, unable to load most web pages, but the ethernet cable works great. The staff is friendly and helpful. The lobby is really nice, the rooms have huge tvs but are small. The location is sketchy at first glance, the parking is unidentifiable from the front, and the hotel itself from King St. is almost impossible to find unless you are intently looking at the words on the doors. Park around back (sort of an alley/street) and go inside to register, and they will tell you about the underground parking, and I reccomend you unload before you park. There are lots of places for food in the block so no worries there. If you can get this hotel for $100 or less youve done fine.

Recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency in a double room booked off of Travel Zoo. ($99/night)

Check-in/out was great....received an email the day of regarding 'express check in' - and upon showing up all that was required was to use the kiosk in the lobby, swipe the credit card used to book the room with and out came the keys. Quick, simple and easy.

Overall, the hotel was fine for a one or even two night stay. Great location, great view of the CN Tower, nice rooftop patio overlooking the city and a small but decent pool. Beds were rather comfortable.

Room was okay - interesting modern design, but the furniture seemed to take up quite a lot of space. The room was rather tight, even with only 2 people. Cleanliness of the room definitely left something to be desired. Beer caps on the floor and around the beds, quite a bit of dust above the beds, and lack of proper cleanliness in general. I'd even go as far to say it's basically a glorified dorm-room out of 'The Jetsons.' And $15 for internet? This is something that should be included in this day and age.

If you need a cheap place to crash when coming to Toronto for a show or night out, I would say its worth a look. Wouldn't pay more than what I did for the room, and have stayed at better, more comfortable places around the city for roughly the same price. I'd go back if there was nothing else available.
