“Wonderful, upscale hotel in ideal location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2009

My husband and I just returned from a long weekend getaway to Toronto (our first time). Choosing a hotel in a city that one is not familiar with can be a challenge, but we were so happy with our choice of this hotel. It is situated in an ideal location, very near museums, shopping, galleries, and excellent restaurants. Our room was spacious, attractive, and very comfortable. The reservations desk clerk was very helpful in accommodating our request for a quiet room on a high floor. All of the staff were very gracious and attentive. Evan, the concierege, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in providing an overview of the city, suggestions on what to do, and excellent recommendations for restaurants. We wold definitely choose to stay at this hotel again.

Although I wouldn't say this is 5 star material, the pros definitely surpassed the cons.
Pros:
The location was fabulous. It was a very short walk to where all the shopping is.
The staff was VERY accommodating. I waited a bit to have my room ready but they gave me the top floor in a beautifully laid out room.
The bed was VERY comfortable.
Bathroom was a nice size
Never heard neighbors or outside noises.
They lent me an umbrella since I went during a weekend of rain.

Cons:
Valet parking took awhile to get your car. The Valet staff though were right there waiting to help you if need be.
Bathroom did not have separate shower and tub like most Intercontinental Hotel's have now.
Bathroom Towels weren't always clean

All in all, I would recommend this hotel very much, and would definitely stay there again with the right price. I booked this on Hotwire so I got a much better price then what was being offered at that time and therefore was a great value.

Number one most important thing is cleanliness! this hotel was spotless and even had a lovely aroma throughout the building. staff and concierge were extremely helpful and the location could not have been better. you are right next to the royal ontario museum and the bata shoe museum, the two highlights of our trip. The neighborhood is the nicest in toronto and just behind the hotel is the prettiest area in the city. do not miss the bloor-yorkville neighborhood with it's quaint little shops, great restaurants, and all around lovely scenery.

Just a few blocks from the hotel, You Must Go To the MoRoCo Chocolate shop and restaurant.. hands down the most beautifully decorated eatery and the best chocolates in town.

The Intercontinental in Yorkville is like a hidden treasure. Right across the street from the ROM, around the corner (less than 1 block) from the St. George subway, located in the beautiful Yorkville neighborhood, we loved our stay. The room was clean and very large (two queen beds), four of us fit comfortably. But the real surprise was the staff. We travel a lot, and I can safely say I have never encountered a more consistently over-the-top friendly, helpful staff. Whether you need directions, spending money (!), or help with bags, the staff at the Intercontinental went out of their way to make us feel like we were the only customers they had to serve. We will definitely stay at this hotel on all subsequent visits.

Nice place with great staff. Facilitated a late check-out which is always nice if there's a flight to catch.

My wife and I, along my mother, her friend and my wife's parents stayed at the Intercontinental Totonto Yorkville from the 1st June to the 7th June. We were in Toronto to celebrate my mothers birthday and my wife's parents wedding anniversay (both milestone nos.). From the moment we arrived to the time of our departure, our stay here was faultless. Check-in was smooth, efficient and friendly. In fact all Canadians that we met were very friendly and helpful. Our rate was inclusive of breakfast, which was table service in the restaurant and the morning ritual was of the highest standard....Boris was our waiter for the duration of our stay. We had drinks in the bar some evenings, again efficient and friendly service. The stars of the hotel are the Concierge team, Carolina and Evan. Prior to arriving in the hotel Carolina reserved all restaurants for the duration of our stay, she had some wonderful recommendations. We ate at Simple Bistro dinner, Osgoode Hall lunch, Spuntini dinner, 360 CN Tower dinner, C5 at the ROM dinner and Jamie Kennedy at the Gardner Museum lunch...all were excellent and very good value. While there Evan arranged the city tour and tour to Niagara Falls. The Niagara Falls tour was great and well worth it. Each day they enquired as to how we were getting on and how we liked/disliked the restaurants...really friendly and genuine people. The hotel is not huge like other IC's, has quite a boutique feel to it and the location is perfect, located near the museums and shopping is on the door step. It was my first trip to Canada and it is so different to their neighbour. Toronto may look like any North American city, but its citizens were more European and certainly not as brash as the USA folk. Our trip to Toronto was perfect and the IC Toronto Yorkville and its staff contributed in no small way to this perfection.

After 30 taxi mins. from the international airport (flat rate: CAD 50.-) you’ll get into the upscale district Yorkville with lots of high-end shopping and good hotels, incl. the Interconti Yorkville, just opposite the ROM. There’s a small lobby with nice service. Unfortunately, the concierge seemed to be gone every time we needed one but there’s still the helpful front desk. Our Superior twin bed room on the 5th floor was very spacious, perfect for 2pax, especially the bathroom was huge with separate bathtub and shower. There was lot of storage, a inroom safe and a sofa. The small gym had some machines incl. treadmills plus there’s a small pool. As this is a boutique hotel the ambiance was much nicer than in a large hotel of the same brand.
Best thing was location: just around the corner is the metro station and therefore the whole city was reachable within in minutes. There’s even a sightseeing bus stop in front of the hotel.
An elegant boutique hotel. I’d choose it again.
