“Old girl is getting tired”

The old girl is a little frayed, but well worth the money for the location and the staff. If you are put at the end of the hall, it takes half an hour to run a bath, and you have to stand on your head to plug the bath! Even the TV reception is sketchy. We were on a non-smoking floor, but I could smell some cig smoke, maybe the cleaning staff smoke on their break, don't know. The Union station construction nightmare affects pick up and drop off, but the subway and the PATH are right there. Great shopping.

Room Tip: Ask for close to elevators, south view.

Thank you for your feedback. Though we are pleased that you’ve rated your experience as great overall, we apologize for our lapses in quality. The bathtub should have had great water pressure and a functioning plug and we have brought this to the attention of our Director of Maintenance. We will also follow up with our housekeeping team regarding the unpleasant smoke odour as the room should have been removed from service until we could purify the air.

With respect to your comments on the TV, unfortunately we recently had a challenge with cable reception that has since been rectified. This does not excuse the issue and we do apologize for any negative impact that this had.

We are happy to know that you had a great time shopping and hope that we will have an opportunity to welcome you back.

Future guests, don’t forget to refer to the detailed driving directions and information on City of Toronto construction that has been posted on our website, it will help to ensure the smoothest arrival experience possible.

The Fairmont Royal York has a wonderful staff ...great service! Well worth the stay. Lots of local shopping and entertainment. Close to everything you need! If looking for a great meal The Senator is a must!

I was in Toronto on business and had the opportunity to stay at this hotel. I was consistently
awed by the wonderful service and helpfulness of the staff. It is not for anyone who does not enjoy the ambience of an old world hotel. This is an old fashioned stately hotel with a cozy lobby and fantastic Library Pub. The only downside was all the construction outside on the streets of downtown Toronto- certainly not the fault of this wonderful hotel.

Room Tip: I would ask for a room away from the elevators as the dinging of the elevator would certainly not be...

If you like outdated facilities, ash tray as a scent throughout, and an unempowered staff, this is the place for you in Toronto. In essence, your lungs become the filter for all of the nasty smoking and construction throughout.

I grew up in Toronto and always thought of this hotel positively though never stayed here. I had a conference at the Royal York and welcomed the opportunity to actually stay at your hotel. After checking in, I was disappointed to find out that my room was cramped, dingy and the window did not have access to a view. Outside my room was construction with a tarp covering the construction are and construction workers were walking around outside the room. My wife and children were stuck in a room without being able to access any natural sunlight.

Just had another remarkably positive stay at the Royal York - friends, fitness, food... always a great place to stay because of accessibility. I had free internet because I am pres club member and enjoyed the fitness room in the mornings. I checked in and out with ease due to online tools and they even helped me navigate the construction zone to ensure I didn't waste time. Seamless.

Pleasure to stay at the Fairmont. Due to the construction going on a little inconvenience arriving, leaving and walking about. We had a room in the older section of the hotel, which was a little tired, but clean. The location is great and the service of the staff is great.
