Yesterday i visited the Queen and Beaver Pub on Elm Street for a couple of pints and supper and had one of the best pub meals i have had in a long time. Most 'British-style' pubs (outside of the U.K.), who try to be authentic, seem constrained and locked in a Dr. Who time warp by providing menus and poor quality pub food that many modern day pubs in the U.K. long abandoned. Competition in the U.K. from fast-food chains have forced the U.K. pubs to either expand their selection or improve the quality of their pub grub and I can certainly say that the Q & B is well in step with that trend serving high quality food in a very comfortable environment.
Our food selections yesterday were the Midlands Lamb Curry (no chewy fatty lamb chunks here just good tender pieces) and the Game Faggots (spicy meat balls). The latter being served up with delicious onion gravy, mashed turnip and mini sprouts. Delicious.
