“Nice tuscan fare in the entertainment district”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

Dinner here was true italian! For starters, we had the charcuterie -- highly recommend it, all meat cuts were great -- just the right dryness, the accompanying crostini were fabulous and great to put the meat on. The pickled carrots/celery/cauliflower was delicious. For dinner, wife had the scallops -- perfectly seared. I had the lamb shank over polenta -- squisito! Finished it off with grappa.

Restaurant was noisy and the wait staff walked around hurridly -- but no more than you would expect at a downtown restaurant.

“Perfect evening”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013 via mobile

Our entire experience was perfect. We were first time visitors to Toronto from NY and found Nota Bene through our hotel. I made a reservation via Open Table which was confirmed immediately. Our table was ready when we arrived and our waiter came over immediately and was friendly and helpful. I had the tuna tartar and the beef tenderloin and they were both delicious. My husband had the hot and sour soup and the pasta special and said they were excellent. We also had two side dishes, onion rings and tomato salad. The ambience was very nice. The restaurant was full, but not noisy or bustling. Service was prompt, but not rushed. Overall we couldn't be happier.

“Value for (a fair bit of) money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

We waltzed in with no reservation on the evening of Nuit Blache and promptly found ourselves at a good table in the bar section with a view of Queen Street. The ambience here is no less pleasant (and perhaps a notch less noisy) than in the main room. We shared the crispy duck salad as a starter: It came divided in separate bowls, a most considerate touch. Wild B.C. black cod was silky in texture and finely accented with "eggplant caviar" and mushrooms. The excellent service included an appropriate (and reasonably priced) wine suggestion. This was a quick visit before a 7:30 opera curtain but we never felt rushed. No, not a bargain. But worth the money.

“Modern, understated, expensive with excellent service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2013

Had lunch here with a business associate. Ideal location for a business lunch although most of the restaurant is very open - so not ideal for confidentiality.
Service was impeccable.
Ambiance was modern,(high ceiling, contemporary design, comfortable)
Food choices were interesting and the quality was very good.
Prices on the expensive side - but this restaurant is catering to the upper end of the market.
