My wife and I went to Moxie's at Square One in Mississauga last night. We both ordered the top sirloin Oscar, medium. When our food arrived at the table, my wife's steak was bloodier than medium. Had there not been a big snowstorm brewing outside we might have sent it back but we didn't feel like adding extra time to our evening out. Instead, we switched steaks. The steak had no seasoning and was tough. Moxie's menu brags about having AAA beef aged for 28 days for maximum tenderness - I guess someone didn't count the days properly for my steak. Even if I had managed to find the salt that was buried behind the drink folio at our dark booth, the meat would have just been flavourless and salty. Not even the teaspoon of crab in the Bearnaise sauce was able to save the day. On a technical note, the Caesar side salad was put in the wrong bowl. After trying a few times to stick our forks into the salads AND not having it spill up and over the rim onto the table, we just dumped our salads on our plates. Boring, jarred dressing, by the way. At least the garlic mashed potatoes were nice. If I am going to spend $28.99 on dinner at a restaurant, I would expect it to taste better than what I could do at home. The only reason we went to Moxie's was so I could use up a gift card I received for Christmas, and now that I have gone once I will never go back again.
