“Ok for Timmins”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Quick stay in town then out the next day, ok place to sleep next to east side Mario's one of the few ok places to eat. close to the mall if you forget anything. Better hotel there but this one has a good location and was clean.

Room Tip: Try and stay on upper floor. though there only is two floors...

The lady at the desk was very nice. The sad part begin in the room. Old everything.... Furnitures, carpet, paint, AC/Heating unit. In the bathroom the painting was peeling and we could see mold on shower curtain......the bed were acceptable. I'm not returning for sure !!

Staff was extremely friendly and courteous. I was able to leave a day early without any hassles which is always good. It is close to East Side Marios, Boston Pizza, Subway, and a Shell which makes the location not too bad for a business stay but it's quite a bit away from downtown. I probably wouldn't want to stay out there for a personal visit.

First thing I noticed when I went to the upper floor where my room was is the smell of cigarettes. I don't think any rooms are smoking but there is definitely a bit of a smell. You get used to it as it isn't too bad but it's still noticeable. I don't think any of the rooms allow smoking anymore but the smell is still lingering.

Room was clean and not bad. It could use some renovation and a bit of repair. A few tiles were broken. The sink was cracked. A few cracks in the paint and whatnot. The HVAC system is very outdated. You just set the heat level (no temperature), fan speed, and amount of outside recirculation.

There are very few outlets in the room. There is literally not a single free outlet. Luckily I was able to borrow a power bar from my work location so I could plug in my two laptops and two phones. I had to steal the outlet for the lamp.

Watch out when walking around out back at night because there was dog poop everywhere back there. Found out the hard way. Not pleasant.

Doors had signs saying they would be locked after 11pm (if I recall correctly) but I came in the back door once at 11pm and the doors weren't locked and again at 430am and again at 5am and they weren't locked any of those times. Not very secure. I don't mind but if you expect them to keep non-customers away, they don't.

I did a 10pm to 430am shift and it was extremely loud in the morning. I'm not sure what time but I could hear housekeeping knocking on every door down the hall and yelling "Housekeeping!" I'm not sure what could be done about that but it made my rest not so restful. I knocked the "Service" down by one star because of the noise.
