One of the few motels/hotels that still has smoking rooms next to non-smoking ones. I'm a non smoker, and although the room I stayed in was marked non-smoking, I awoke the next morning with a very hoarse throat. The carpet in the room was worn and stained. The property, in general, is in dire need of an overhaul. Free wifi in the rooms and outdoor parking. Lumpy bed. Plenty of hot water, though.

Room Tip: There are renovations planned for this spring. I'd wait until after they're completed before...

I've stayed here 3-4 times while in timmins for work, usually only for a night or two at a time. Never had any problems at all, rooms have always been clean, service great, location is nice and always had a good sleep with no interruptions or noises. After reading other reviews of the other hotels in Timmins, I'm definately glad to have chosen the comfort inn.

Spent two weeks here. The room was comfortable & clean. Most staff were pleasant.Enjoyed the fact that they have smoking rooms that don't smell like lots of stale smoke. Ususal continental breakfast. Doesn't have a guest laundry which was disappointing. Good size fridge and new Microwave.

Room Tip: Might want to request rooms in back to avoid parking lot and street noise. No elevator so consider t...

3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2009

I stayed in the Timmins Comfort Inn from December 13 - 15, 2009 and found it to be quite nice. The lobby, hallways and rooms were very clean and reasonably modern. I found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. The free breakfast was the standard Comfort Inn fare of cereal, toast, hard boiled eggs and pastries. However, there is very little space to eat in the lobby area. Negotiating up a long flight of stairs and opening hallway doors while carrying a breakfast tray to my room proved a little nerve wracking. My only real unpleasant surprise, however, was the distance from the hotel to any place to eat. The closest spot was a Casey`s roadhouse about half a kilometre away on the opposite side of a busy road (which was difficult to cross at night and over snowbanks). I did not find Casey`s to be very good and was forced to walk much father on other evenings for dinner. However, I travelled to Timmins by air and did not have a car. Someone able to drive around town might not have been inconvenienced as much as I was by the Comfort Inn`s location.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2008

I stayed 6 nights at this motel at the east edge of Timmins proper. There is a Casey's restaurant next to Super 8 - about a 5 minute walk. Walk another 8 minutes, you'll be at a grocery store, Shoppers Drug Mart, and Burger King.

Two floors, no elevator. No electric opener on the lobby exterior then interior door, so that can be a challenge with luggage. However, as the 2 other reviewers said, staff are friendly.

The front desk/lobby area is definitely compact. There's 2 tables for the free self-serve breakfast, but lots of trays to take breakfast to your room. Now that so many chains offer free breakfast, this one pales in comparison. Good juice, though!

There's no fitness facilities. Snack and pop vending machines are with the ice machine near the east end of the first floor. Free wireless internet worked well.

There's a new bedspread/comforter and blackout drapes (no sheers), but otherwise, the room is dated. Cheap wood furniture (one drawer was broken), chrome accents. Small pillows on the bed. Carpet looks dowdy. Bright lights, though. My queen bed room also had a loveseat sofabed. Heat/air conditioner worked well, controlled by wall thermostat.

Open closet and iron and board are on display. Coffemaker. Miserable old tv, but it does have pay movies.

The usual 'Comfort Inn" beige bathroom does have a curved rod on the shower/ tub surround. Large mirror, hairdryer, and limited counter space. Plain old white towels.

Next time, I'd try the Super 8 if I again need to be near downtown. However, Timmins best hotel is Cedar Meadows Resort (see my summer 2008 review).
