“Suumer visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

The Hoito was a great place to visit. It had a nice casual atmosphere with nothing fancy and great for all ages. Restaurant even featured in Food Network show "You Gotta Eat Here"

“Diamond in the rough!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2013

Saw this place on You Gotta Eat Here and thought I had to try it on my cross Canada road trip. Was so worth the stop! Though it doesn't look like much on the outside, once you go downstairs you will find this unique and weathered restaurant with lots of charm and character. The food is delicious and great for the price you pay. Definitely hit the jackpot finding this hidden in Thunder Bay!

“Breakfast for for 4 ”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2013

Had seen the place on YOU GOTTA EAT HERE and figured as I was in Thunder Bay we would give it a try. We all had pancakes with 1 extra item ( bacon or 2 eggs ) pancakes are huge and you get 3 but they are very thin and are more like Crepes than pancakes. Eggs where good and bacon was good , pancakes where ok my wife makes way better imop. So for four plates of pancakes and eggs / bacon juice and tip the bill was 50 bucks. Way out of line for a what we had. I've had tastier breakfasts at IHOP or Cracker Barrel.

“Good, but Overrated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

The Hoito is a good spot for breakfast, but it is overrated. The line is always long for food that is average. Personally I go to the Scan Hut over the Hoito. If you don't have to wait, then yeah eat there.

“Breakfast was great, but...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013 via mobile

Something is wrong here. I have been visiting this iconic restaurant for Finlander Style pancakes for over 30 years. Always great food and this visit was no exception. But something has changed and not for the better. I first noticed the hours have been reduced. No longer open at 7, now open at 8. That seemed a bit later for breakfast. The 10 minute wait for a table was normal for a Saturday. We sat down, had our order taken and waited 45-55 minutes for our food! I have never waited that long! By then, the line up went back up to to the street and small children were melting down from the wait. Pick it up Hoito. There are other places with great breakfasts!
